The hotel is beautiful. Its spa is uber luxurious and professional. The concierge service helped us plan our entire stay. Nate at the concierge was like a travel agent at our disposal. He was always there for us. Nate, thank you for your hospitality! Breakfast on the Horizon floor was always comfortable and the view was pleasant. Thank you Shangri-La.

Shangrilla usually never been dissapoint us.
But in guilin, i was a little bit dissapointed.
We reserved room with river view. Of course it cost more than room with no view. When we checked in, they did not give us river view room.
After we complain, they said sorry for not paid attention to that special request before they gave us our reserved room.
In our room, the view was awesome. We could see river and the hotel got swimming pool. We could see all of that.
Really nice.
For breakfast, i think it has same menu with other hotels.
But i like their lo han kuo yoghurt. Yummy. I have never taste yoghurt with lo han kuo flavor.
Like it!!
The lounge has a lot of drink. And i think it was quite cheap than in yangshuo bars.

First impressions on walking into Guilin's Shangri-La were good! The entrance area is aesthetically pleasing and well maintained. We asked for the bar and we're directed to a pub like area next to a Buffett restaurant. The member of staff beamed a smile and was attentive but it could have been a pub anywhere so I didn't see the point. Proceeded to dinner at Shang Palace on the other side of the hotel. Again nice room, not full so unsure as to why we were sat facing a wall when there were window tables available. Menu was helpful since it came with descriptions and photos of dishes. We selected the pan fried duck liver which was delicious and substantial. Next we had the boneless spare ribs, (they tasted delicious also, really good dish!) the goose was a little disappointing it had the crispy skin we expected but the fact that it had quite a lot of bones made it awkward to eat. It did come with 2 great dipping sauces. The beef sliced rice noodles were very nice and the last big dish was a stewed duck and cabbage, which took on a slight taste of ham during cooking. It was nice but quite salty. To finish we got some steamed beef dumplings (we were expecting these first). The meal had some high points and low points. On the whole it was good value. I felt service was just ok, we were left to fill out own water glasses from mini plastic water bottles and to fill up our own wine glasses because the staff were too busy clearing away a large table that had left rather than checking with their diners if their meal was ok. I would recommend but would suggest expectations are lowered it was not the expected Shangri-La experience.

Stayed here for one night during our Tauck China tour. The room was ok. As is the norm in China, the room wasn't exactly spotless. If you look closely. you could see some stains on floor and even on the ceiling in the bathroom. My biggest issue with the room was the shower. I didn't notice that there was a gap between the shower's glass panes; so by the time I was done showering, the bathroom floor was a mess. I didn't really like the food in the Li Cafe, but that may be a matter of personal preference. The waiters at the restaurant were all really eager to serve and quite helpful. Their English wasn't that great but I could tell that they were trying their best to do their job. This probably is the best place to stay in when in Guilin, so I'd still recommend it despite the aforementioned deficiencies.

Stayed there with family for a couple of days recently. The hotel is a bit off from the city centre. Maybe not a bad thing as its away from the din, and takes just 15min to get to the city centre. The staff are very nice, the rooms are nice, big and clean (relatively new hotel), standard big lobby, great garden and pool, gym, etc. The restaurants are v good as well, though pricey by Guilin standards.
Our only disappointment was the complimentary shuttle bus service. Some times they could not arrange it even though it has a fixed schedule and offered taxi fare. Not becoming of a hotel chain like ShangriLa.
Overall very good stay and will not hesitate to visit again.

Is it the name of the Shangri La that carries them as I can not see where the great rating are coming from!

We stayed for one night at the hotel, we arrived after 11pm, upon check in it really took them 25 minutes to sort the confusion out with breakfast included or not!

Honestly, if we knew the breakfast was going to be that mediocre, we would have just told them not to worry with it! Juices were watered down, no staff that we bumped into could speak English apart from LISA, whom I must admit was very helpful but stressed out as you could see she was the only person there who knows what she was doing! Communication is not a problem as we live in China and can speak Chinese BUT I had to assist in helping other foreigners ordering food as staff just pointed in the general direction and walked away! Very very bad service!

There was only one option for fish at the breakfast, it was covered in pepper! The lovely Lisa then ordered Salmon for me! Cheese platter was never filled up, so too some of the fruit platters until we complained about it.

Bedrooms were great, clean and no smell of smoking. Concierge always friendly.

We stayed in this hotel for two separate nights before and after our River Li cruise. First impressions as you walk in the foyer are just, wow, this is nice. We enjoy the spacious feel and the luxury , so welcoming from the hustle and bustle of Guilin, relatively quiet considering a smaller city.
Our rooms on the club floor level, with access to the Horizon club lounge, made the stay so much more enjoyable, the staff friendly, some spoke very good English, smiling faces, very pleasant.
Our rooms very comfortable, not overly huge, but certainly more than adequate.

Room Tip: Splurge a little extra for the club level rooms, great views over the Li River.
