this week i stayed 3 nights , in a 3 beds/persons room,with my families, around USD 55,

Nice and big room . its not expensive .No refrigerator and cable TV is quite disappointed.
And there is no Wi fi in the room .
But these problem you may solve by :- there are stores like seven eleven just besides the hotel ,soyou can buy any drinks any time ,the Moma bread chain shop open 24 hours also there , you may also use the computer/internet at lobby ,

in downtown, have 2 streets for open markets for tourist , the hotel located in one of these but started at night time, you can visit another one at day time by 15 minutes walk .
It also about 5-10 minutes ride to train station. restaurants and food houses many ,

if stay here for 2-3 nights as tourist , it wl be a good hotel recommend. But not good for business travel purpose , i do think wifi in room and cable TV CNN HBO .breadfast .must be provided .

Overall, i like its design in western look in room design , it 's more easy and comfort than check in those outdated designed and managed. And i impressed hotel can offer free airport pick up by such 2-3 starts hotel.

I was there with my wife during our trip to China in March 2013. We spent in this hotel 3 nights. In this located close to the city center. If you arrive by plane - you can take a bus to the city and then call a taxi which is pretty cheap.

The hotel is a little old but still of a good quality. The room was spacious, bathroom was clean with very funny mirror ;-). We asked for rooms on the higher floor. During the night there is a "night market" just on the streets next to the hotel (starting around 7pm and ending around 1am) - so it is pretty noisy. But on the other hand - you can walk around and buy some interesting staff ;-).

The reception staff speak just a little english (there was one girl who spoke much better). There are many travel offices in the city so we thought that it would be very easy to buy tickets for River Li cruises or Rise Terracces trips - but it wasn't. The main problem was that nobody in these travel offices speaks english! Really! Most often they couldn't even answer "No, I don't speak english" - they just pretended that they don't see us!

Finally we bought the tickets at the small travel desk in the hotel (the girl from reception who spoke english was very helpful because the travel lady didn't speak english neither ;-).

Nevertheless - it's worth to go there, especially for River Li cruise.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floor - during the night there is a night market which can be noise...

We had a great stay at the Sapphire. The bed was the biggest we've ever slept in. We also loved the little alcove. The girls at the front desk did not speak the best English, but we had all our questions answered. The gal doing the tours was great. Everything worked out perfectly. Since we were complete tourists, and only staying one night, we LOVED the night market right outside the hotel. It made for a fun evening walking around before the Li River the next morning. Our room was facing the market and it didn't bother us at all. In fact, it was absolutely fascinating to watch how quickly they set up and tore down from our room window. In the morning we rounded the corner and found a bakery....then at the next corner discovered steamed red bean buns. They were amazing. Looked for them the rest of our trip and never found them again. Had a great experience at the hotel and the local fun!

The room faced a lot of garbage & derelict apartments.the room decor was odd.it looked like a brothel with painted gold lamp shades & purple velvet everywhere.the staff offer no service & don't speak English.WIFI is only in the lobby.no breakfast or cafe that we saw.reasonable location but will find a better choice next time

This hotel is well situated, within walking distance to Elephant Trunk Park and the night market is right below. Turn to one corner of the hotel is a convenience store and bakery/cafe. The room was clean, quite spacious for the and price we paid. Very good deal. We signed up for the Li River cruise with the hotel and it was great, it was one of the best days we had on your 3 weeks vacation in China. Recommend that you also sign up for the bamboo raft tour, highlight of the day.

We stayed for one night on 17th March, 2013 after visiting Dazhai. Check-in was fast and without hassle (room booked through Agoda ). To our delight, the room was big and appeared as advertised. There wasn't any cigarettes smell as commended by others. Though we stayed on the 4th floor facing night market below, there was no noise disturbance at all, and with very soft/comfortable beds, we had a very good night sleep. Wifi signal was good in our room. There were 2 shops selling Guilin noodles on the left of the hotel where you can get a quick meal. I would recommend you take breakfast of buns and local porridge by the road side, across the street towards the right of the hotel, not forgetting the stall selling freshly-blend soya bean milk next to it.
I must commend that Miss Mok at the tour desk was very helpful and efficient. Afraid that we miss our driver, she came down to the the bus station on her bike to meet up with us. And we did get a good price and seating to Liusanjie Impression and Dreamlike Li River acrobatic show. Through her, we toured Yaoshan and also enjoyed 2 rivers four lakes night cruise.
This is certainly a hotel to consider, if you come to Guilin.

Room Tip: Take the high floor facing the market
