This is the third time I've stayed at this hotel (always as part of a tour or official visit where I don't choose the hotels), and it hasn't changed very much. It is still in a very good location (near walking trails, the waterway, local restaurants, the night market, etc.), but it hasn't been updated in ages, and it shows.
I've read on TA that there is a "new wing," and if so, we never saw it. The rooms are dated, a little musty/mildewy (Guilin's climate is humid), and there's been quite a bit of deferred maintenance. The breakfast buffet is adequate - but not up to the standard of the other hotels booked on the tour.
It is a fine average hotel if you are not in charge of booking it - but if you are, there are better choices in Guilin now.More
