I did go to this park and I was very disappointed. There isn't really anything to see there besides the Camel Hill, the zoo (which was closed) and a cave (which was also closed). Besides, if it would have been open, I would have had to pay extra to see it ... after already paying 75 RMB for the park itself. Very silly and greedy. Not at all recommended.

Named after the seven hills which surround the 100 hectare park, this is a tranquil place, at least on a Monday afternoon. The most interesting aspect for us was a panoramic mural erected in 1997 on the occasion of the change in administration over nearby Hong Kong, from British to Chinese rule. The mural is a depiction of Chinese history and it stunning in its design and breadth. A highlight. The park itself is enormous and restful, with many options for visitors.

Seven Star Park is located near the city center in Guilin. As with most parks in China there is an entrance fee (as it was part of our tour I am unsure of the cost). The park also contains a zoo with 2 Panda Bears which you can tour for an additional fee. It is a well kept and nice looking park. One of the features is Camel Hill which resembles a camel. In front of Camel Hill is stone feature that memorializes President Clinton's visit to the park where he spoke about the environment. There was also an unusual target practice area. It contained guns and a small scale tank that you could use to fire at the targets.

The entrance fee has gone up to RMB 75. To visit the Seven Star Cave, we had to pay another RMB 60 each. Apart from the reconstructed bridge, Camel Hill and a man-made waterfall, we felt that there was nothing really outstanding in the park. It was so old that there was even a Muslim mosque and tombs in the grounds. The cave was huge with wide paths but it could only be seen by joining a Mandarin-speaking guided tour in which the guide would switch on the lights as we went along. The Yao long-haired woman show and tortoise stop in the cave were unnecessary and made it seem a little like a circus. We didn't go to the zoo or walk to the top of the hills; the views from up there may be great but we'll never know...

The entry fee of 75RMB/person is expensive for this park. The zoo is more expensive to see the pandas. We did see some wild monkeys which was cool but basically wasted 2 hours on nothing.
