“Convenient location”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

Stayed for 3 days in June 2013 (arranged by tour agent). Location is convenient to access stores/street shopping and walking distance to lake area. Lobby was OK and clean with internet access. Smoking allowed throughout hotel. Rooms were just OK (single queen/king bed facing frontside; twin bed facing back). Outside noise is bearable. My room on 10th floor had cigarette/smoke smell throughout the night (bad for asthma). Air conditioning sometimes not functioning, just blower. Carpets in room and hallway were dated. Breakfast spread skewed towards local food; did not try (not for Muslims). Receptionists were responsive but only one can speak English.

Hotel currently undergoing renovation to the lobby. Stayed here on two occasions: 8th floor no complaints, but beware ...everything has a price e.g mineral water, bedroom slippers (in plastic wrapper - the plastic ones are free!), anything in the bathroom excluding toothbrush and toothpaste. Only one receptionist speaks English...don't bother to call in case of complaints. Just go to the reception and draw it! Stayed on the 11th floor the second time after our visits...we were overjoyed at being given a suite...but alas, the sink leaked, toilet couldn't flush, and the room was noisy cos it was located at the dining area. You can hear the staff talking, cooking, pulling trolleys etc. Blackout at 4am..and receptionist couldn't understand a word of English!!

Room Tip: Choose lower floors which are further from the dining area.

Stayed here on 2 occasions 19/5/10 and 24/5/10.
This hotel was in the town centre. Close to all amenities and shopping malls. Free internet, hotel was a little dated, but the rooms were clean. On one occasion had to contact Housekeeping as the bath towels had large holes in them. Also asked for 2 cups as there was tea making facilities but only glasses. There were no coffee sachets offered. Purchased coffee from local supermarket. Staff did not understand that we needed cups for our coffee but eventually understood and dropped some off shortly after.
Air conditioning in our room and in our friends nearby room struggled a little to keep room comfortable.
Purchased local breakfast of noodles nearby.
Would stay here again for the convenience.

Downtown hotel that is in the middle of everything in Guilin. The hotel is located on the corner of the 2 main streets in Guilin, Jiefang and Zhongshan rd. The enterence to the hotel is in the back street that intersects Jiefang rd.
The room is nothing special, average 3 star hotel. The hotel is noisy, we stayed on one of the top floors that faces the main steets and we can hear the car hornes throught out the night. And stay away from the hotel breakfast.
Located 5 - 10 min by taxi from bus station on Zhongshan rd.
Taxi charges about 120rmb to airport by highway. It is cheaper to go by back streets but travel time is about 55 min.

Booked online - reasonably polite staff, but rooms were disgustingly dirty. We changed rooms after complaining, but our new room was the same. I don't think their carpet had ever been cleaned. Our children's feet were literally black after running around on the floor for 30 minutes. Don't do it!

My family and I booked our room online for a stay during the Chinese labor holiday. Upon arrival the hotel told us that the rate we booked at 270 RMB was incorrect and that we would have to pay the "holiday" fee of 680 RMB!!! Once we explained the situation- and they realized the fault was theirs they gave us a "discount" of 580 RMB!! The description says the hotel was redone in 2003, but the facilities are very dirty and dark. Not our idea of a 680 RMB hotel. We were disgusted to find that we had to argue for them to put any towels into our room without an extra fee. The carpet was dirty and the ceilings cracked. We were happy that it had a western toilet, but found that the water pressure did not allow for flushing. We had orginally booked for 2 days but left after the first. We will never visit this hotel again. The new name is Jin Pu hotel.
