Dong Ming Hotel
Ranked #259 of 657 Hotels in Guilin
Reviewed 3 January 2006

We booked this Hotel(off season) because it was so cheap and we did not know at the time if we would stay in Guilin for 5 days which we did.
We had 2 rooms( not connected)..as we had kids.
The Hotel is mainly used for internal Chinese tourists. No one speaks English (well actually 2 staff only had a bit of a go if they were on duty).
At first this was a novelty but became annoying as the tour desk was useless, the Restaurant was frustrating and staying here was a mistake for us(not their fault)
They have internet dial up for 8y for 1/2 hour in a "buisnesss centre"

The staff were pleasant and smiled but had no idea what we were talking about. Cost included chinese breakfast which was plentiful if you know what it is ...I stuck to the rice and noodle and the others avoided breakfast totally. The cleaning was hit and miss and we regularly had to ask for toilet paper.
The carpet stains left little to the imagination .
We froze the first night and they provided a heater the next night. The rest of the hotel is cold . The kids room had air conditioning.
These people dont know about mould remover arround baths. We could have moved but once your unpacked ....guess its not that bad.
The location is very very handy to the city..just a short walk 5min or 7 yuan taxi trip. We walked around the block to the Bravo Hotel for coffee which looked 200% better but also 3 times the price so you decide on your Budget. They spoke english there.

The people dont seem to sleep there at all and have no idea of quietly closing doors so as the Hotel itself was extremely quite from outside noise we therefore could here every thing ...I mean every thing inside and they talk/watch loud TV at 3am in the morning so we were exhausted and sleept in till 10am every day. We could have been just unlucky?
No english TV or News. Beds are hard and we put a doona on the matress
There were no suprise charges so it was a cheep stay and I guess a genuine chinese experience and would suit back packers very well. Not for the Honey Moon .
