Ancient City International Youth Hostel

We stayed here for three days before going to the Yangtze river, and really enjoyed it. Placed next the metrostation in Xi'an wherethe two lines 1 and 2 crosses, and at the city center, you have the perfect location. The place is very cheap even if you stay there at the height of the season, as we payd 750 yuan for five people, two rooms for to nights. The rooms are spacious and very clean, with big beds.
I only have one warning - don't go on the tour to see the Terra Cotta warriors that they recommend. The Terra Cotta is amazing, but the tour is quite expensive compared to what you get. It includes food, but to our surprise, we had to buy our own drinks, which was really expensive, compared to the really cheap (and boring) food we got. Our guide was only telling us where to be at what times, we didn't really get any info at the seight. If you want a guided tour, try something else than this one.

This hostel has everything you need: very central in Xian, it's just off the busy street so it's not noisy,  close to the subway where the 2 lines intersect, big and clean rooms, WiFi, nice and reasonably well English speaking staff, a cosy bar and a good breakfast selection. In Xian, the Muslim quarter is great and you should definitely rent some bikes on the city wall.

We did not like the tour to the terracotta warriors though. The warriors were great to see, but the tour was bad. We took the shortest one, for a bit more than 300 yuan. The price does not include the 2 electric car rides that are more or less forced on you, so expect to pay a bit more. Our guide was not speaking very loud and her English was not too good so we did not get much more information then you could read of information signs.

Every tour visits the terracotta factory first, which consists of a turbo tour about making terracotta warriors and way too much time to browse in the shop. We then got back on the bus to the warriors and when we got there we first got quite a bad lunch and it although the tour started at 8.30, we did not see any real terracotta warrior before noon. After the warriors we visited Emperor Qins tomb, which was not really worth it: just some nearly empty pits.

this hostel is miles ahead of other hostels in china, clean, tidy, very well organised. The staff are so friendly & willing to help you with anything you need! Its in a fantastic location in the old city, near the metro, and walking distance to all tourist attractions within the old city.
would definitely stay again!!

This hostel is above average, spacious and cozy, with a few extra as slippers and daily change of towels. Well located within the city walls, close to metro and access to Drum Tower and Wall walk. Recreation area with tables and free pool table. Serves varied tasty meals at very interesting prices. Exceptional reception staff, very friendly and helpful. Easy communication because some of the employees speak English quite well.

This hostel is a hidden gem, located only 1 minutes next to police station and 3 minutes to Xian Subway. From the hotel, turn left then we can walk to the lotus garden, lots of places for breakfast and my favorite Moslem Quarter.
The price was very affordable plus they have 3 good washing machines, which was very useful for us. The receptions were very friendly and informative, the most important was at least they understand English. If I have a chance to go to Xian again, I will stay in this hostel again.

We stayed just one night, which is more than enough for Xi'an. The hotel staff is nice and the connected bar/restaurant is also a nice place (food is average but atmosphere is nice; the music is sometimes to loud though). From the hotel it's 15 Minutes walk to the railway station from where you can take the tourist bus 5(306) which takes you to the terracotta army in approx. 50 min. It is easy to use (final stop to final stop), cheap (Y7 pP and ride) and goes every 10-20 min.

The hotel itself is as mentioned ok. Our bathroom wall was a bit dirty. Looked like poo, however, in China poo is everywhere, so we just didn't touch this particular part of the wall. the hotel offers still a good value for your money. We paid Y200 for a double room with a huge bed. We would use it again...

The reception and all the workers were very helpful and went out of their way to explain something, even if something was initially lost in conversation. The rooms are clean and comfortable---great for the price. Location is conveniently close I north railway station. You can also rent bicycles for a whole day for 20 yuan, which is pretty neat. The location is a bit far from the center, but close to the subway. Bar/restaurant is great and there is a good variety of food that is great for the price. Also has a lot of space including books, pool table, etc.

Only negative feedback is that I think they should have more tours for locations included on the map--(especially Mount Huashan and Famen Temple....) Other than that, it's a good hostel that is well worth the price.
