This temple is well worth a visit. Taoist temples are actually not that common and more often than not, you visit Buddhist temples. This one is a very nice example of a large Taoist temple. It is very interesting and you might witness real rituals and ceremonies. Go through the antiques market and, if you have a bicycle, park it in the bike park (the locals will show you where without you asking them). The temple is only 3 yuan to enter and you can easily spend an hour exploring it.

“Taolist Temple Right in Front of Antiques Market”
Reviewed 18 January 2013

The Temple of Eight Immortals is the largest Taolist temple in Xi'an and is located in a very strange location that I would never have guessed would be the place of a such magnificent temple. I walked with a map, entered an untidy street full of small locals' shops and walked along it for a while, thinking that maybe I missed the right turn, but then I saw the temple, which stands right in front of the antiques market. Inside the temple there are some very interesting steles and the buildings are also very nice. The entrance fee is 2 yuan and if you get hungry, there's also a very nice restuarant deep inside the temple's grounds.

“living worship Daolism temple for the locals”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

Xian's largest Taolist temple, lies in a shabby area east of the city wall. It's said to be sited over wine shop where LUDONGBIN, later one of the Eight mmortals was enlightened by Taolist master Han Zhongli. Containing an interesting collections of steles, including pictures of local Scenic areas and copies of complex ancient medical diagrams of the human body, the temple is the setting for a popular religious festival on the first and fifteenth day of every lunar month.
That is a must place we can't miss
