The Best Airport Hotel at Kunming International Airport has 390 rooms. The hotel can be seen from the arrival level, but I would not recommend to walk. The distance is much further than anticipated and the way leads through busy multilane roads without a walkway. A shuttle bus service departing every 20 minutes is offered. The shuttle bus stop is located near to the taxi stand. If by any chance the shuttle bus doesn't show up, the phone number is on the electronic signboard.
The airport far from the city and there for Best Hotel makes it an ideal transit hotel. It is the only one near the airport, the prices are accordingly high.
The set-up of the room is rather uncommon, with the bathroom and WC integrated in the living room. I found the concept weird. For a single occupancy it is acceptable, but when two people are sharing the room. There is no personal sphere.
The bed was OK. The rooms are fitted with a desk and a recliner chair. Wi-Fi worked flawlessly. It was surprising that in an international transit hotel no foreign channels on TV were available.
The breakfast buffet is having an extensive choice of local food, but there is little for the Western taste. It is not to everyone’s like to have fiery spicy Yunnan noodles for breakfast. There was toast, yoghurt and cereals available. The coffee was undrinkable. A better option is to have breakfast at the Starbucks inside the departure terminal at airport.
There is a coffee shop in the immense entrance hall. Unfortunately, it was closed very early. At 10.00 PM there was nowhere to get a coffee or a cold beer.

Pretty good value for $$. Ideally located close to the Changshui Airport, Kunming. Liked the beds, very firm...though some would say 'hard'...but it's all relative. The coffee/tea selection in the room are good too.

Was only here for a short overnight, before the next day's flight out. But will be sure to try revisiting this next time I'm in town.

Room Tip: Views of the airport are great.

Being an airport hotel one would expect the rooms and windows to be well protected from the noise of planes starting or landing. Not so at this hotel. When staying in this hotel you will realize how busy the Kunming airport is! The hotel seems to be rather new, so surprised how badly soundproof it is.
Room is alright, clean and good size with a comfortable bed and a good shower. Breakfast quite average, ordinary Chinese selections.
One of the staff at the reception speaks good English, and she was very helpful.

This is a large hotel that caters principally to overnight guests taking early morning flights. There is a shuttle bus early in the morning that runs every 20 minutes then changes to every half hour after 10 am. The earliest buses are large buses when passenger numbers are high, then shift later to smaller buses. It is possible to walk downhill from the terminal to the hotel in about 15 minutes. Uphill with luggage might be a problem.

Breakfast was abundant that will satisfy Chinese tastes. Foreigners should be fine as they will find recognizable items such as hard boiled chicken and duck (green) eggs, cakes, and fruit. Strange that in Yunnan with so many different types of fresh fruit that only watermelon was available. Freshly made noodle soups and eggs are available.

Dinner in what was billed as a Southeast Asian Restaurant was not particularly good, and food was NOT Southeast Asian.

Front desk was accommodating.

Room was modern and clean and comfortable. My room faced the airport with night flights ending about 11 pm.
