This hotel is not very convenient for business travelers, the restaurant is strange with a different menu. Seafood is the majority. The room service is below average. Except from the staff at the reception the command of English from the other staff members is very limited. WIFI is good however. The location is all right

About a 20 to 30 mins in a taxi in the evening to the best eating and touristy places to hang out at night, but at half the price of hotels of similar ratings right on the lake. I wanted something like a business hotel with all the comforts and this didn't disappoint. The room was a good size and the bed was awesome! The bathroom was quite spacious and modern and had a full size hot tub and combined rain-shower/normal shower. The hotel is decorated in a boutiquey kind of trendy trimmings along with the comfort. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor the side away from the road. It was really quiet. When booking, I did ask for a quiet location so I am not sure if it was because of my request or if all rooms are the same.

In the past month I have been twice at this hotel on business trip. Rooms are nicely and originally decorated and the location of the hotel is pretty convenient. Food is average at most, particularly for breakfast: one would expect much more from a boutique hotel.

The staff is simply terrible: poor command of English, most of the times unhelpful and complete lack of manner: last time I arrived the reservation failed to go through for a standard room (8 nights) and the manager at the reception insisted on me paying the difference for using a deluxe room for the first night. Given his rude language and manners I cancelled the reservation and went for one of the nearby hotels (Narada and Oakwood are great options: lower price and better facilities), promising never to be back again.

We stayed for 4 nights to explore West Lake and the Hangzhou CBD - both are a short 20 minute walk from the hotel. Shops and restaurants are also close by.

The service from the front desk was very professional, helpful and friendly. The hotel lobby is warm and inviting as is the decor in the rest of the premises. We got a room on the 3rd floor on the opposite side of the road which was very quiet, spacious and immaculately clean, except for some mould between the tiles in the bathroom. Each room has its own WiFi transmitter so there is a strong signal to work with. The bed was the most comfortable one we had on our visit to China.

The room was well equipped with tea making equipment, mini bar and nice toiletries. On the 2nd floor there is a coffee machine, library, computer and printer, newspapers etc - all complimentary.

We had all our breakfasts and dinners in the hotel restaurant, where the standard of food was very high and reasonably priced. Unforunately the professionalism of service in the restaurant was not as high, perhaps due to inexpererience of staff, who often appeared not to know what they were doing. The presence of smokers in the supposedly non-smoking area of the dining area was annoying and the staff seemed powerless to tell the offending patrons to stop. For Sunday dinner, when the usual restaurant manager was absent, we were not even offered the non-smoking area, that was empty, and placed near 2 tables where every one was smoking. We got sick of this and simply had to move ourselves to the end of the room, where the stench was less evident. After a long wait compared to the previous nights, we got a wrong dish, that was cold as well. After complaining and asking for the correct dish we noted the staff we giggling, obviously thinking it was funny that they had screwed up. After 20 minutes we finally got the right dish and it was hot as well.

Otherwise, I would have rated the service excellent, including the friendliness of the all the staff who worked in the hotel.

Jiangnan is the Chinese pronunciation of the Korean word Gangnam. Literally meaning "south of the river", Jiangnan refers to the scenic area south of the Yangtze, including Hangzhou and Suzhou.

This hotel is an epitome of Jiangnan style- exquisite, elegant and warm. What I like most is its emphasis on tea- with the Longjing tea being almost synonymous with Hangzhou. There's a tea-making set right in the room, including a jar of water from the Hupao fountain (or so they claim), allowing one to experience authentic Chinese tea without the need to set foot from your room.

I also like its design with lots of wood, giving a warm and homely feeling. Each room has its own wireless router allowing guests to have really fast wifi. There's also free fruits for grabs.

Our package includes free pickup to the airport, making our journey entirely fuss-free.

It's a 20-min walk away from the West Lake- you'll need to walk through the Huanglong Park which is right opposite the hotel. It's a brisk walk up and down a hill, but it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle.
