We loved this hotel so much that we spent loads of time hiding from the hot, humid summer heat in our room. The room was really well laid out and very stylish in a lovely, understated way. Big spacious bathroom. Big spacious bed. The service was wonderful. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and enjoyed it a lot. Enjoyed a drink in the little bar, too. Our only constructive criticism was that we felt breakfast ends too early (9.30am). And it would have been even better if we could have hired bicycles directly from the hotel so that we could easily get to and around West Lake (which is a cab ride, or a very hot humid walk of around 30 min, away). Overall, we were not blown away by Hangzhou or West Lake though. The city is pretty built up and busy, the lake is a bit overrated and the waterfront areas are a little kitsch. But a pleasant enough place to escape from Shanghai if you don't have time to travel further.
