stayed here sevaral times - handy for business in binjiang and xiaoshan, south of hangzhou centre. close enough to get to hangzhou city centre and west lake easily by car, but otherwise feels remote. Has all western mod cons and a great breakfast, served efficiently. next door is macdonalds and there is a bar ( "splash") across the road which serves curries and mexican food.

Room Tip: Rooms facing macdonalds are quitest, numbers 11-15?otherwise there is noise from the railway running...

Room I got was not one of larger rooms but even this has plenty of space. Nice clean room all in good condition, no any kind of wearout. Service from hotel staff was excellent. Breakfast was good. Eating in hotel is a bit costly as it would expect from this kind international hotel, but there is alternatives nearby. At opposite side of street there is local restaurant "Splash" located at same building with English College. Ther is also McDonalds open 24h a day and it is directly at hotel courtyard. Some shopping is possible at nearby streets of hotel. Attractions like West Lake and most of city is located on other side of river, so If you like to visit there you need to get a taxi. I belive location is suitable for many business travellers altough.

I often stay here because the hotel is close to my company's offices although about 20 mintues away from down town Hangzhou. The hotel is good and efficient. The staff speak adequate English, I often find my room upgraded, The restaurants both Western and Chinese are good although like every place I have every eaten in China desserts are lacking or poor. Internet service is reliable.

The hotel also is helpful in arranging tours of local sites, including of course famous West Lake.

Lastly, my corporate rate, 550 RMB, is about 1/4 of the posted rate. Negotiate.

The hotel is quite new and located at the mid between the lake and the airport. I had booked a non-smoking room, but none were available when I checked in. The area has a lot of traffic so I suggest to ask for an high floor to reduce the noise. My room was at 28th floor so was not affected by the traffic and from there at least potentially the view is amazing but traditional humidity in this area make not possible to see so match.
Room was clean everywhere. All the basics are available (safety box, mini bar, iron, LCD TV). Internet is available only via hard cable, no Wi-Fi and the cost is 90 RMB per day or 20 RMB per hour (max 4 hours) but is free for SPG members.
There're 2 restaurants: one with international food and one with chinese. In general the food is acceptable but for sure not unforgetable.
Prices of the rooms and restaurant are aligned with other hotel in the area.
A the end of the story a good choice

I stayed at this hotel as it was the conference venue. The room, on the 23rd floor, was very nice and spacious. The bathroom was roomy and had a good range of toiletries. A few things meant it wasn't 100%. The first was the mini-bar refrigerator not working, but all it took was the plug to be pushed back in. Some of the wallpaper was peeling, which let the look down. Finally the in-room safe wasn't working, but after 30min of work from four different people it was sorted out. The windows were double glazed, and so the traffic noise wasn't disturbing (but the horns could be heard faintly). Bottled water was provided in the bathroom and was replaced each day.

I had booked a non-smoking room, but none were available when I checked in. I pointed out my request on the booking sheet (take that with you!) I had asked, so I was asked to wait while a room was cleaned. Definitely worth this option.

My conference arranged for breakfast and internet to be included, so check with yours too. Otherwise internet in the room is cabled Ethernet for 20RMB per hour, up to a max of 90RMB for the day (about US$12). There is free WiFi in the lobby, restaurant and conference floors.

The hotel has a business card for travellers to show taxi drivers, with the hotel address on one side and several attractions + railway + airport on the reverse. You need to ask for this, and for the map/phrase guide. None of this is offered, but there is no charge.

The hotel does currency exchange with no fee, so it is cheaper than the airport (RMB58 fee there). There is also a train ticket purchase service (24hr notice required), for some fee (not sure on amount) that means you can just turn up to the station.

A taxi from Hangzhou Aiport (Xiaoshan) was 85RMB, but allow up to 100RMB. A taxi to/from the Hangzhou Railway was 35RMB. Both take about 30-45min, so allow plenty of travel time.

There is a McDonalds right in front of the hotel too, but you have to ask for the English menu if you don't speak Mandarin. There are some night markets selling fruit and cooked food (intended for the locals) just over the road.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor if possible for less noise.

I've stayed here twice on business and both times, I was really impressed by the following:

+ Excellent services: everyone from the front desk to servers are quite accommodating. My Chinese isn't great, so I prefer communicating in English and haven't had an issue with the front desk or the "floating managers" (called this because I don't know their specific titles, but they seem to be management and they appear quite readily by your side in the lobby). I've had them help me buy train tickets.

+Excellent value: I have a corporate ID which knocks the rate down quite considerably. Plus there always seems to be some sort of Starwood bonus points happening during my stays.

+Excellent hotel: The hotel is immaculately clean with a gorgeous gym (though it's a bit of a confusing trek). The pool is fantastic, lots of new equipment & sauna/steam room in the locker rooms. My room was spacious and had everything I needed (fluffy towels). The Starwood preferred floor has a fancier bathroom, but that's the only real difference I noticed. I do recommend that if you're calling to make the reservation - to specify a non-smoking room.

+Good location: My business is located in Binjiang so this was a great location. It can get trafficy so the taxi ride can take a while. Also, I have found HZ to be deficient in cabs as it's easy to go places from the hotel, but difficult to come back. There are quite a few local restaurants and grocery stores popping up nearby - you can buy pretty much anything from underwear to locks.

+Excellent breakfast: My rate always includes breakfast and there is a huge selection of Western and Eastern food - think steak & eggs to congee.

Their food pricing otherwise could use some work. For example, while I was given two free bottles of water every day in my room - buying a bottle during breakfast cost me 23RMB.

Wireless is only in the lobby (WHYWHYWHY!) and cable is available in the rooms. The charge is 20RMB for an hour and 90 for the day. However, my charges were waived so I'm not sure if that's due to the corporate rate or because they were being nice.

I highly recommend eating in the smaller restaurants down the alleyways (sounds sketchy, but it's where the locals go). I was able to get delicious noodles for 6RMB a bowl, buns and all kinds of street food for less than $1. Definitely a bargain over the pricey hotel food & fancier restaurants nearby. (Haven't gotten sick either!)
