This area is worth a visit when being in Hangzhou and it is actually better than the West Lake this due to that is more real nature to see and not so crowded compared to West Lake and other areas around. The area is nice to visit and to do a longer walk and appreciate the tea plantations in this hilly area. My recommendation is that You use some more robust walking shoes for this trip. During summer time it will not be as warm compared to West Lake due to that it is located in the hills and there are trees which gives shadows.

The correct name of the place is 9 streams 18 ponds. It's not too far from the West lake area. The taxi does take people there. From West Lake area you will need to go up then down the mountain. If you live near the 1st bridge (of the main river) it will be only a few minutes drive.
The place is located in the middle of the valley between the mountains surrounded West Lake. A nice water stream flowing along the small mountain road from West Lake to the place, where eventually it stop at this attraction. It is said that a total of 9 water streams all flowing into a system of 18 ponds, though we did not manage to find them.
The water stream was very nice, especially during these hot summer days (unbearable in Hanghzou during summer), so it was a nice get away. Most Chinese tourist don't know this place, so it is only local (Hangzhou people) would come here, so it was not crowded at all.
But that's about it, a nice place to get away from the hot weather. Not much else.

In spring time it's covered with green tree and fresh air, good choice for mountain climbing.
