Getting to the hotel was surprisingly difficult from the airport. Traffic in and around the city is dense, and not just at what you would think to be the rush hour. Situation is within walking distance of west lake, but thats about it. Nice view from rooms facing south and west overlooking hils, but you cannot see the lake from the hotel. The rooms themselves are well proportioned and very clean. The rooms lack storage space, and in fact the wardrobe is barely usable to hang much beyond tee-shirts. The ladies who make up the rooms and turn down are very efficient, contentious and smile. There is a problem with noise, both inside and road noise.

Reception staff are not very helpful and their ability to understand english is pretty limited. Check-in took an eternity, and not much better at check-out.

Very difficult to get a taxi, so you're pretty isolated from the other places of interest, or if you want a nice local restaurant. Also, i didn't find any kind of assistance or organised visits to local sites from within the hotel complex.

So pleasent enough, but I will not be coming back.

Room Tip: Think twice about it if you intend to visit or eat local.

Stayed in the hotel every year for ca 4-5 days. Nothing was below expectations - and we found that every year at least small improvement of services is achieved. Only one thing remains painful - to get a taxi. Hotel is unable to arrange taxi during the rush hour) because of existing deficit of taxis in the city). Comparing to the neighbor Dragon Hotel, the services are at the same level but slightly cheaper.

Room Tip: The not reconstructed rooms are slightly cheaper but almost same quality as reconstructed.

the rooms are of good size, well equipped and clean. the sound proof is not very good, and as chinese have a tendency to speak very loud (plus the traffic and horns), ear plugs are highly recommended
staff is warmfull and ready to help, however their english is not at all sufficient to go beyond check in and check out. this is a real barrier for a non chinese.
buffet is impressive.... for those who love chinese food. for the others the tiny western corner is just above the bare minimum and the quality is not at top.
avoid the SPA in WTC on basement, it is not a great experience
location is not that great (at least 45 min walk from lake)

The Narada Grand, and the Dragon Hotel (next door) are well located for West Lake, although a bit away from central Hangzhou. The food and amenities at the Dragon are a bit better, but the Narada does not disappoint: its buffet meals have a neat signalling system to help you choose among low, medium and high calorie dishes. The food is uneven in quality, but you can choose a decent meal whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. The lobby provides surprisingly good sushi and has a nice area for enjoying good coffee and snacks. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms have a filtered water tap. A short walk or taxi ride takes you to West Lake, and be sure to take in the Crooked Courtyard garden (Quyuan Park). So many people take boat trips on the lake without spending the few hours of delightful sauntering the lakeside gardens deserve.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the front. Those at the back (north) are very quiet.

I have been staying at this hotel for 8 years. It is in a great location, just outside the famous West Lake area (in walking distance) and close to a lot of shopping. The room rates are moderate at $115-120 a night, far better than spending $300 at the Grand Hyatt. Hangzhou is a resort-destination city in China so rates are higher than many other cities, so I find this a good value. Many of the beds are very hard, which is the custom in China, but if you want a softer mattress, there are rooms on the 5-6, 11-12th floors with beds more suited to westerners if requested. the 5-6th floors are slightly more expensive, and smaller. Many of the rooms have been, and are being, updated. Feather pillows and feather duvets are the norm. The restaurant on the 2nd floor has Chinese and western food, and breakfast is usually included in the room rate, as is the internet.
