Best place in hangzhou to go and visit if you want to get away from crowded lake and scenic venues. At the entrance there is a tram which runs as well (paid services) and can take you around.
i decided to take a walk and enjoy the wetlands. Winters can be the best time to visit as its gets misty to sunny to various hues in the atmosphere.
Loved this place.
It will all depend what time you go and visit this place as it can as well be packed if timings are wrong. I visited the park around 11.00am when the locals start hiding from the sun in the cafes and restaurants.

“Somewhere to escape to if you have the time....”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

If you are one who is keen on getting away from the usual tourist attractions for the western eye, visit this place. It is frequented by the locals. You can take a boat ride along the canals, see some old chinese houses and if you are lucky experience the playing of music outdoor with traditional chinese instruments.

“An interesting park, better in season”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

I first visited the park during the off-season and while I really enjoyed exploring the wetlands, many of the shops and cafes in the area were closed. Going back during the summer it was almost like a different place and you could cruise around on the boats and see all the attractions easily. The advantage to the winter visit was the lack of crowds though. On a holiday weekend with nice weather this can be a very popular place to be.

“A highway, not a parc”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Enormous disapointment.
I actually do not undertand the comments on Trip Advisor or maybe after a few years in busy cities, people have forgotten what nature really is.
The park is indeed a wetland but it is rather small and just impossible to get away from the crowd.
What really anoid me is that most of the people do not really feel like walking so there is a massive traffic of large golf cars carying about 12 people each. These cars drive relatively fast and very close to the people. The driver is almost always jumping on the horn. The result is that instead of enjoying a peacful moment in a park, you need to watch for the cars and bear the noise. There are also quite few few real car driving through the park. There are 2 big hubs in the park which consist in shopping area where you can find all the usual crap for tourists (hats, silk, pearl...). A portion of the park is closed because new constructions are ongoing...
Stay away.

“A unique experience, wonderful lunch on the boat and fantastic birdlife”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We took a boat trip one April morning through the more remote parts of the wetland. Quiet surroundings, bird life, spring growth everywhere, and a stop at the village to buy teas, climb the pagoda and see the wetland's panorama. We had a lunchtime banquet on the boat which must rank as one of the really wonderful eating experiences as our oarsman guided us through the lush reeds and past other man powered boats. Everyone felt relaxed, rejuvenated and in admiration of China's desire to preserve crucial reed beds which have the ability to remove contaminants form water, control floods and allow biodiversity to flourish. We encourage China to preserve more natural environments.
