“Beer ice cream! ”
Reviewed 28 June 2014 via mobile

While hubby went for the trio beer where you could try the three types of beer produced there, I decided to try the beer ice cream which made for a refreshing snack for the afternoon.

We did the self tour around the place which detailed the history of Sapporo beer and its place in the history of the city.

A nice way to spend the afternoon.

“OK but”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

The Sapporo Beer Museum is located about a 30 minute walk from the JR Sapporo station. Not really worth taking a train here as the nearest station is a similar distance away. Attractions include a tour of the factory (only in Japanese though) and beer tasting. All the museum information is in Japanese, however, so the only real worthwhile venture for foreigners is the drinking which is cheap (500 yen for 3 glasses of Sapporo beer).

Go here if you have nothing else to do in Sapporo but not if you are short on time and need to see the parts of the city quickly. There are far better attractions around Sapporo.

“Multiple visits!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

Third time I've been to Sapporo and third time I've been back to the beer museum! You never get sick of the stories the exhibits tell. You definitely don't get sick of the 'tasting portions' of Sapporo beer, of which some are exclusive or difficult to find outside of Hokkaido.

“Beer fantastic - museum so so”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Free to get in you are immediately directed onto a walking tour depicting the history and making of Sapporo beer. We found the museum lacking in substance and actually a bit boring other than the room of posters depicting advertising campaigns through the ages. Finally you come to the tasting room where via a ticket machine you can buy an individual beer for JPY200 each or 3 different types for JPY500 - each purchase accompanied by a small cheese snack. The beer was fantastic and buying 3 allowed for an opportunity to try the different flavours. You can walk outside In the grounds where there are various restaurants including the drink all the beer you want/eat all the lamb you want ... all delivered via a cook your own BBQ. Food was OK but be prepared to come out reeking of the smell of cooking - all clothes went straight into the washing machine

“delicious fresh beer”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

No entrance fee, cheap (and really delicious) beer, and English provided. What more could you ask for? I definitely have new respect and appreciation for Sapporo beer.
