Toyoko Inn Sapporo Susukino Minami

Yet another great stay at Toyoko. We regularly stay at the Toyoko chain of hotels when traveling around Japan's cities as we find them consistently clean, modern, friendly, well-located, and excellent value at less than $100 per night. This Toyoko was no exception.

Although located a bit far from the main JR station, it is well located with easy walking access (5-10min) to the lively streets of Susukino, plenty of restaurants and shopping. It also has great access, just across the road, to the riverside parklands, excellent for running and walking with paved trails on both sides of the river that go for 10's of km.

The room was very comfortable, typical Toyoko style - compact, clean, and organized. In addition to the functional ensuite bathroom, there was a small kitchenette area with fridge, hot water pot, and sink. There were also plenty of storage areas. The AC and TV both worked well, although there was no English programming. This Toyoko actually has a bit of a view as it is not hemmed in by other high rise buildings like most Toyokos are. The free Wifi was really a great bonus and there were also computers for use in the lobby. There is plenty of parking at the hotel though you do have to pay about $10/day for the privilege. A free breakfast is included in the price but we can't comment as we decided to eat breakfast out as it was our last day in Japan.

This Toyoko is highly recommended to other travelers, both for business and for holiday. We will definitely be back.

I was choosing this hotel because of budget and that time all pther toyoko inn in supporo is fully booked but i do know before that it should be far from Sapporo station so I can accept everything , didn't quite upset about location , last time when i was visit Fukuoka , i was a bit lost in a way to find Chisun hotel but accidentally passed Toyoko inn there that is quite near to subway and feel like want to kick myself .. Why don't i choose Toyoko cause it is really easy to find but this Toyoko is especially different cause there are others Toyoko inn those are nearer and easier to find so before choosing this one please prepare yourself :)
Even it is not convenient near to Subway but also many guests the first morning we found ourself in the busy buffet breakfast the staff working really hard cause many guests waiting for the rice

In hotel there is wi-fi so things are more easy , i did apply for toyoko card so for this year i would choose to stay at toyoko again for bext chances travel to Japan

Hotel has the van transfer service but it is sad that they don't have this information on their hotel website but the transfer has limit time until before noon

But after we has seen the way from hotel to Sapporo station by the van so it is not difficult to walk back next time

So if anyone ask me , this hotel is also nice to stay but you have to accept the location before you choose, but i feel ok because i knew before i choose

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights on our trip to Hokkaido and it's everything we've come to expect from the Toyoko chain of hotels including friendly staff, close in proximity to a subway station and convenient store, clean rooms, availability of all basic amenities but small rooms. The breakfast included rice, miso soup, salad and some vegetables to go with the rice, which is very filling. We figured out a way to get from the subway station to the central JR station through the underground tunnels, which is convenient on rainy days. Also, the hotel is walking distance to all the sightseeing areas including the Sapporo tower, the clock tower, the sapporo factory and the large array of underground shopping stores near the JR station. The receptionists spoke limited english, but it's enough to get by for the basic requests. I would come back to this hotel for it's location and price.

This hotel is about 7-8 minutes walk from Exit 7 of Hosui Susukino subway station (Toho Line) (their website quotes 2 minute walk, but I think it is 7-8 minutes walk by my standard). It is in quite a residential area and not many places to eat or shop around unlike another Toyoko Inn at Susukino Kousaten, which is right in the center of Susukino and across from ‘new ramen yokocho’. But you can walk there with ease. ‘Family Mart’ is also 1 block away and Nijo Market is only 3 blocks away. You may find souvenirs for sale here cheaper than other places like Tanukikoji Shopping Street.

The good thing about this hotel is you can get much more spacious room with a nice view instead of wall of another building for a cheaper price. There are vending machine, drinking water and ice maker, microwave oven, and also 2 laptops available for use in the lobby.

Its dining room is quite large also. Based on my staying in 3 Toyoko Inns in Hokkaido (Sapporo and Hakodate), I think the breakfast here is the best: Japanese simple breakfast including sausage and salad. There are 2 laptops with internet available to use in the lobby.

Some staffs may have difficulty communicating in English, but finally we can understand each other.

The Toyoko Inns are a real find throughout Japan. For a very reasonable price you get a comfortable, clean stay with lots of extras that make a long-term stay great.

This Hotel in Sapporo provided one of the larger rooms we had during a recent 2.5 month trip to Japan. It is definetely nothing to look out, but was clean and had a sink, refrigerator and hot pot which are great for long stays. For those truly on a budget, they also serve a VERY basic breakfast (rice and miso) and DINNER! (rice and curry sauce) . Since you have a fridge, you can bring back food from the supermarket as well. Downstairs is a microwave for guest use as well as an inexpensive washer and dryer. There is wifi in the lobby as well as 2 computers for guest use (unfortunately, there's usually people smoking in the lobby). Overall, there's just about everything you need for a longer stay when you want clean clothes and to check your e-mail. The a.c. in the room also worked well, which was usually NOT the case in other motels/hotels in Japan.

This is definetly not the place to stay for a honeymoon or if you are used to beautiful accomodations and other ammenities like room service or a restaurant. But if you want a place that has everything you need (you can't always get what you want, but...), this is it!

One more note - for runners it is sometimes difficult to find places to run in Japan. This hotel is right across the street from a very long river trail - great for just a walk, but a real find for runners.
