“2 Night stay in family room”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Stayed 2 nights recently with family in family room which has standard 4 beds. One rollaway added. Size of room is good and consists of larger room connected to smaller room. Sufficient space for everybody to move around freely. Bed quality didn't disappoint us and we had 2 good nights of sleep. One small remark about the bathroom which is fairly old and could use some refurbishment. Breakfast in the morning was good and plenty of choice. Especially the croissants were delicious! Overall a great 2 night stay with no complaints. Will come back again in July for a 4 night stay which we already booked.

We stayed at Novotel Sapporo from 25/3 to 28/3 and booked an Executive Room. The hotel is located at Nakajima Park and about 5 min. walk from the Nakajima Park subway station. There were thick snow at the park & looking from the hotel room makes it look like a winter wonderland. The room was big and spacious and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The nhotel is only one stop away from Susukino, Sapporo's busy shopping strip and is about 10 to 15mins walk away. Breakfast in the hotel was good with a good range although not as wide a range as a 5 star hotel. The hotel provides free shuttle to the train station where you can go on a day trip to Otaru & Asahikawa. Overall, the stay at Novotel Sapporo is enjoyable & very good.

The rooms are well kept and clean, staff was friendly and even helped to show and bring luggage to our room. The beds are reasonable big for Asian people.
Hotel is not convenient to walk to the station especially in the cold winter and there is not much eateries around the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel during the Sapporo Snow Festival and had definitely made the right choice! The hotel is located down town on the outskirts of Susukino besides a quiet park. If you are staying for a few days in Sapporo, this hotel is definitely a great choice! You can walk to Susukino within 5-10 minutes, if you keep walking down the same main rd passing Susukino, you will reach Odori in about 20 minutes and if you choose to keep walking further, you will reach Sapporo Station in about 30 minutes walk, so in my opinion, Novotel Hotel is a great base to explore Sapporo on foot. However if you do not wish to walk, when exiting the hotel, walk towards the park through the front gates of the hotel opposite the hotel restaurant, follow the path and you will find the entrance to Nakajimakoen Station, exit 3 and it's only 1 stop to Susukino Station, 2 stops to Odori Station and 3 stops to Sapporo Station!

Rooms were clean and comfortable, room size was small but that is typical for most Japanese hotels. Front desk speaks English and were very helpful in providing free maps and directions. Not much down stairs around the hotel but plenty of vending machines around, including one just across the front entrance of the hotel, 7/11 is about 5minutes walk towards the main road (towards the direction of Susukino).

Room Tip: High floors have a great view!

We stayed at the Novotel for 2 nights during the Ice Festival which is admittedly a busy time for the hotels in Sapporo.
However, to charge well over A$300 per night for a twin room for a hotel that is on the outskirts of the CBD area is unjustified for a Novotel which is rated no more than a 3.5 stars.
Unfortunately the room we had was occupied previously by a smoker and the housekeeeper did not bother to spray the rooms. When we asked for the room to be sprayed we were shown a bottle of spray which was in the cuppboard but all labelled in Japanese! You can forget using it as the room still stunk 2 days laters!!
At 8:30pm my wife and I wanted to have a light dinner but the coffee shop had already closed and the French restaurant had closed too. We were left with the choice of two Japanese restaurants. We chose one that unfortunately turned out to be overpriced and serves very small portions (smaller than the normal Japanese portions) and offers NO atmosphere whatsoever as we were the only guests in there. We checked the other restaurant and they also were empty...
The rooms and bathrooms are tired and need a serious face lift if not a proper refurbishment program. The public areas are a notch better! W were never offered any help with our luggage although the reception had plenty of staff on duty.
Bottom line: The Accord Management should seriously look at dropping this one from their stable!

Room Tip: 1- Make sure you ask for a non-smoking room if you are a non smoker as we are! 2- Make sure you req...

Pros: Polite and helpful staff, pleasant location next to park
Cons: Our room was small, needed a face lift (peeling wallpaper), and the air smelled of wet winter clothes and stale cigarette smoke. Accor membership didn't help, and room was fairly pricey during Snow Festival.
We visited during the Snow Festival 2014, when room rates all over town were high. Found slightly better deal through online travel agency (japanican.com) and wonder if that's why we got "punished" with our small (even by Japanese standards, as far as I could tell) room on the 8th floor. My Accor club membership didn't help (I received no points) since the room was booked through the agency, not directly the hotel website, the receptionist told me. As other reviewers point out, this hotel doesn't go out of this way to give Accor club members extra perks we might hope for.
I liked the location next to Nakajima Park. It's three subway stops from Sapporo's central train station but still close enough to walk to Odori Park, main site of the Snow Festival. We had watch out for icy, snow-covered roads and sidewalks, though--be prepared to land on your butt at least once during a winter visit.
Overall, an underwhelming hotel experience to be taken with a grain of salt. I wonder if it had been better if I a) had booked directly through the hotel website and b) visited during a less busy/expensive period than the Sapporo Snow Festival. I'm giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt, which is why I decided on an "Average" rating, and not "Poor." Bottom line, the hotel fell short of my expectations.

Room Tip: Avoid small, stuffy rooms on 8th floor. Friends who were Accor club members and booked directly thro...

Stayed there for two nights during Dec 2013. Hotel itself is located next to Nakajima park which provided a nice ambience to the stay and our room had nice views of the park and surrounding areas. Rooms were large and nicely appointed. They were clean and had most of the amenities expected from a Novotel.

Only downside was that the hotel is not located near the city centre but luckily we drove so it was a 10 min drive to the town area. Alternatively, one can also take the train to the underground mall and the train station is a 7 min walk from the hotel.

Overall a nice stay in a pretty decent hotel.
