Toyoko-Inn Hiroshima Ekimae Ohashi Minami

When you get off the train look for and follow the south exit signs, look for exit 9 EKimae ohashi bridge. Up the elevator stairs and turn right cross the bridge, cross over the intersection and turn left for 100m and there it is next to CEntury 21 hotel.
Hotel is very clean and quite new. We had a no smoking room which was clean and modern.
Room is not huge but not small either compared to some Japanese hotels we have stayed in.
Breakfast included mostly Japanese style except for toast and jam, although one morning we had some egg dish that resembled omlette. Nothing fancy but if you dont want go hungry eat whats there. Drink vending machine in lobby, prices very fair. The hotel is in a perfect location only a 5 minute walk from the station where you can eat and shop. For what we paid I would recommend my friends to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a no smoking room when you book

This hotel's best feature is that is near the train station. The lobby is very small as well as the elevator. There are 2 washer and dryers in the lobby that cost about 250 yen each to use and soap is 30 yen. Breakfast is in the lobby and has mostly japanese style breakfast food. there was toast and coffee and tea but no orange juice. I went to a convenience store to get a pastry. The rooms were smaller than average. The desk personnel were pleasant. I would stay at another hotel if i was coming back to Hiroshima.

Friendly staff, though communication might be a little bit of a problem if you don't speak Japanese (I speak basic Japanese). Located right beside Hotel Century 21, across the canal from JR Hakata. Take exit 10 from JR Hakata (if I recall correctly). It's also across the road from Fukuya department store building, upon which you have to walk a short distance along the canal. Clean facilities, well-appointed room, free and fast Wi-Fi, free breakfast ... very ideal hotel for travelers on a budget!

However: Check-in time of 4pm is too late, especially for those arriving in Japan on an early -morning flight.

If in Japan, do forget about luxury hotels unless you are that type of fussy traveller.
If you visit Hiroshima and want to see what the city has got to offer, rather than lounge around in a hotel, then this is the place for you.

The hotel largely caters for Japanese businessmen and is best classed as a functional hotel.
It is conveniently located just across the road from the impressive JR Hiroshima Station. There is therefore no problem about finding the hotel late at night and no problem if you are carrying heavy luggage. (But do beware there is another Toyoko-Inn in Hiroshima. So do be careful finding your hotel after late night Sake drinking!)

Once in the hotel lobby, which is functional and not ornate, you meet the cheerful but efficient receptionists dressed in either bannana colured or strawberry ice cream coloured uniforms. Language can be a minor problem but their politeness offsets everything else.
The rooms are small but clean with the basic amneties.

Breakfast is served in the lobby and is a buffet style breakfast which, whilst not the best breakfast in the world, is quite adequate. Breakfast time also gives you a chance to talk to the Japanese businessmen.

Outside the hotel is the JR station from where you can get on a tram car and visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and other attractions.
As I said before, it is the location which matters!

This property is about 5min walk from Hiroshima JR. Staff speak no English and have to make do with signs-language most of the times.

Rooms are small but that's what one expects in Japan. Breakfast is free so is WiFi.

Toyoko Inn never fails to disappoint. This is another fine establishment just opened in July 2010 with clean, big and well-appointed rooms and predictably good service. The staff were all friendly and ready to help with requests (for umbrellas on a rainy day, or ways to get discounts at the hotel, for example). Rooms were bright, cozy, welcoming, and make for a good night's rest. Breakfast is sumptuous every morning. Very well worth the rate of 8400 yen I paid for a twin room.

My only complaint is that the hotel is a little difficult to find. But all you really need to do, once you get out of the Shinkansen station, is to go underground and look for exit 9. From there, just cross the ekimae bridge once you are on ground level again. This is where the third stop on the tram line is, where you can take horiden 2 or 6 to the A-bomb dome and at least one of them to Miyajima.

Had a wonderful stay! Thank you Toyoko Inn.
