Not only is this hotel super convenient for those arriving by train, our room on the 18th floor also had a great view of the Shinkansen trains snaking into the station below. Absolutely perfect for our train-mad son. If you arrive by Shinkansen, turn left as you come out of the Shinkansen gate and the hotel is signposted from there. Our room felt fairly small with an extra bed but would have made a spacious double and the beds were comfortable. If you have half a day spare in Hiroshima and want to escape the crowds of school children at the museum and Peace Park, do consider visiting Mitaki Temple. It's not mentioned in Lonely Planet but it's only 7 minutes away by train and you can have a lovely, peaceful walk in the mountains behind the temple. See the reviews on tripadvisor for more details. Also, for anyone needing a coin laundrette in Hiroshima, see our forum post for directions.

This hotel is attached to the JR train station, thus making it a winner for location. The hop on bus also stop at the hotel main entrance, making it convenient to visit the attractions. The room is clean, modern and quite spacious for Japan standard. We also choose this hotel for the free wifi which I must say is very fast. This is important as my teenage kids can't live without internet.

Granvia Hotel is inside the train station of Hiroshima. So it is very easy and convinient when you arrive by train. It is comfortable, excellent breakfast, nice and helpful people. The rooms are big and very clean.

Room Tip: if you are travelling by train in Japan I recomend that you stay in hotels inside the train stations.

Hotel Interior, room, bathroom looked contemporary with clean sleek design. I thought this was a new hotel. I was told the hotel is over 22 years old. Larger room for Japanese standard, the bathtub and shower looked new. We liked its contemporary design. In fact, it had the best shower and deep large tub. You walk to Jr station through big store mostly selling Hiroshima speciality. I found a large book store there as well. The one man(bus driver only) tour bus stops RIGHT in front of this hotel and you can get on and off according to the schedule at a set low price. JR Japan Pass was accepted so we did not have to pay. We toured the Memorial Park .

The Granvia Hiroshima is an excellent choice. Its location on top of the JR Railway Station is ideal, and allows easy access to anything you may wish to see in this city so laden with history. The hop-on bus is literally on the Hotel's door-step. Our Granvia Floor room was superb, spacious and very comfortably furnished, the sort of room which it is a pleasure to return to after a day doing the sites. We had very good - although not inexpensive - meals at the Jensiki Steakhouse and the Sky Restaurant, both on to top floor offering panoramic views. Staff were helpful, efficient and polite at all times. The public areas are perhaps without much character, and the breakfast was frankly disappointing, but apart from that this hotel offers great value for money and an unbeatable location.

Room Tip: Granvia Floor rooms are well worth the additional cost.
