We had a very spacious room (for Japanese standard) with nice harbour view on the 12th floor. Breakfast and dinner buffet are worth the money, employees are very friendly. I would recommend this hotel without any restraint.
A practical hint: If you arrive at Kobe airport, take the Portliner Train to Sannomyia station. Exit the east gate to the bus station. At platform 8 take the courtesy bus to the Oriental hotel, which runs every 20 minutes.
If you arrive at Osaka KIX airport, take the high speed ferry crossing the bay to Kobe airport. There take the Portliner and proceed as above mentioned.

Room Tip: 12th floor and above with harbour view

I stayed three nights each over two weeks (total of six nights). The first time, I got a room upgrade. The second time, a standard twin room. The upgrade wasn't a big deal except for the size of the bathroom. The noise factor that comes from the bay cruiser moored across the harbor is greater in the standard room. My suggestion is to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper or annoyed by noise. The hotel could install better sound-proofing glass on the sliding doors.

The service from staff at all levels is great, food is good, the view of the harbor is wonderful. Kobe is just a great city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is NOT on the "Mosaic" side of the harbor. Book through internet trav...

I was here while ago and want to come back someday. The location giving you a great view of the harbor. I come from Bali island where leisure is our daily attitude, so bit uncomfortable when I'm not allowed to where casual attire into the restaurant. That was the only thing I complaint about. Shopping and dining area are at walking distance, or you might use the free shuttle bus which always on schedule.

Bit of a slow check in considering there was no one else checking in at the same time as us, though our bags were taken and shown to our room and explained to how things work. room was tidy though the bathroom is a bit dated but still clean. room came with free internet and english paper but had to get the cable from the front desk. staff were great and helpful. had to pay entry to go in the pool, seems most japanese hotels that had pools and spa areas etc were at an extra price not included like australia. mosaic shops were a short walk as well as the kobe tower, ferris wheel and maritime museum, the balcony was great to use but it also has very old chairs and just a cement floor. Also the hotel offered free shuttle service to and from the train stations

It was a 3G review, we stayed for 3days in June and enjoyed every minute! Try the Royal Morp (pronounced "moria") for Kobe beef... The best $100 you'll spend on food.

Here on a business trip for two nights. Restaurants and mini-amusement park are within 10-15 minute walking distance. The hotel room is very clean and front desk staff speak English quite well. Rates are on the expensive end though a breakfast buffet is included. I would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

It was not a horrible hotel, but for the price, I was definitely disappointed. The room was old and in need of renovation, as was most of the hotel. The location was great and the view beautiful as well. When we had checked in, they had put us in a room facing the docks, which was not a very nice view, as we wanted to look at the Mosaic area. They quickly changed us out of there for a small fee. Staff were so-so, but not up to standard. Overall, disappointed with my stay here.
