Pros:

Hotel Crown Palais is a nice hotel that is linked to the Harbourland shopping area where there is plenty of selection of food and shopping. Price-wise, the hotel is very economical, with free wifi.

Near the JR for access to other places of interest.

Cons:

Breakfast selection at the hotel is very limited though and will advise to have your breakfast at Harbourland instead given the price of 1500yen for breakfast.

Another limitation is that it is not near the Kansai Internation Airport and you would need to take the JR to Sannoyami to take the Limo Bus service to KIX.

I had a one night stay at this hotel in April 2014. Hotel is large and it is located in quite peaceful area near JR station.

Hotel room was large and clean. Room decoration was a bit old fashioned but f.ex. TV, refrigerator and wifi in the room – all the basic facilities found in the room. And the room price was very reasonable. It was good value for money.

Walking to the Sannomiya shopping area took for a while, but for me the main shopping and night life areas were not too far from hotel. There are also shops in the hotel neighborhood. This peaceful location was fine for me.

The most memorable thing during my visit was the outstanding service at the reception. Personnel were really friendly and helpful. I had a nice stay there !

Furthermore, the Kobe city was also nice and beautiful.

I paid $48US /night all in for a single bed room ,booking 3 weeks prior on Hotels.com.The room was great, air con worked well, as did the WiFi. The room had a safe, fridge, kettle and complementary tea. The bed, bedding and pillows were very comfortable and it was very quiet. The TV had only one English channel, BBC News. The location can't be beat, a couple hundred metres from the Kobe Station and supermarket. Across the street is a food-court.....and several shopping centers. It is a 300 meter walk to all the tourist attractions (Kobe Tower,Merikan Park, etc. etc.)The staff were very friendly, and there was always someone who spoke English.

We went to Japan recently and stayed in 9 cities. Of all hotels, this by far was one of the best. Super clean and new. Buffet breakfast choices were smaller compare to other big hotels, but pretty of variety to choose from, western and Japanese. There was only one dessert two out of 3 mornings and none on one morning. But thatwas no huge problem because I had been eating too many types of Japanese desserts anyway.
Very reception staff were very friendly, especially one of the staff who handle luggage called Inove.
Love our stay there. Wished we could have stayed longer.

I was in Kobe for a official trip. This was my first stay in this hotel. I must accept that the experience has been extremely good. I loved the hotel for that it can offer as a Japanese Business Hotel ! Most of the amenities sought are available ! The staff was very courteous (as expected in Japan!) . The rooms very surprisingly decent sized. Surely not as big as we expect them to be in India but compared to Japanese Business hotel standards !! The rooms are equipped with a mini bar and the internet (Wi-Fi) speed is decent ! The location is brilliant ! A stones trow away from Kobe Port Tower, Mosaic and the newly opened mall Umiyae ! It is connected to the JR line and Hankyu line through the underpass (Kobe station). On the whole a very pleasant experience . Strongly recommended !

I stayed to Crown Palais Kobe on business, I was mislead and believed it was the Crown Plaza hotel in shinkobe, the hotel is located far from the center of Kobe, room are fairly small and prices are close to the same as the Crown Plaza. Breakfast was a pure joke 1800 for a very poor and limited buffet.
Staff was friendly and internet was free, however i would not stay there again
