“NICE & FINE BUT NEED TO GET PRICES , ALL THE SAME .”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

Recently, I was in Kyoto and had a great time. This is a good hotel if they have got their prices
clearly for internet customers & when they were making a quotations to my Japanese assistant but they did ractify it with sincere actions. This hotel is located in Kyoto Station.

But the walk to the hotel'S reception area is a long walk from the entrance in the station.
This walk would be very nice if the hotel have had good clean restuarants on the way to the
reception. But the smell of these restuarants was not pleasant infact the smell of dead fish
was very distinct. fortunately for this hotel,They have 2 very nice ladies, who try their best ,
one is Miss Yuka Murata & her assistant. The concierge is very helpful too and the breakfast
is great. I was trying out the single room for some single guests. That was O.K but a big one bed is preffered.

Room Tip: Pls see ads carefully, asking abt size of the room is a must in Japan.

The fact remains that it's biggest draw is the location as it is directly above the Kyoto JR Station. It is in the center of everything. Walking distance to Yodobashi, the Kyoto Tower, a lot of affordable and good restaurants ( Porta arcade, Cafe du Monde. The hotel restaurant serves the pasta and the egg omelet filled with rice and chicken), shopping ( Isetannn is adjacent to it, Porta shopping arcade ), a lot of Kyoto souvenir shops, even a Mcdonald's is within a 5 minute walk. Taxis are always available. Food served by the hotel was really good plus free internet access ( wifi public areas, wired LAN in the rooms ), excellent service and a friendly and helpful stop. my choice for a return trip. Truly value for money. Deluxe rooms are comfortably large for japanese standards. Enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is by no means the cheapest of hotels in Kyoto, but it is the best. The base level double room is quite large (can walk around bags and still have a defined sleeping and sitting area), and is beautifully decorated. Is directly above the Kyoto JR station, but was totally silent. Biggest drawcard is the extensive room service menu! Was a huge book with extensive options and wasn't outrageously priced. Polite staff. Recommended stay. Useful and obliging concierge staff.

Room Tip: Go a north facing room (either a xx01 or xx02 room) as it faces away from the shinkansen tracks, and...

The Granvia was my choice for a brief stay in Kyoto and I was really pleased for having stayed there. While being located very central in the impressive dome of the central station, it still provides the tranquility and privacy you would expect from such a fine place.

My room was facing the city with an impressive view from the 11th floor. The room was very well-kept and inviting. Furthermore I enjoyed the fact the front desk staff was able to communicate in English with me (something to be experienced only seldom in Japan). The only setback was an additional charge for the wellness facilities of the hotel.

The station makes a great location to tour from. The Hotel is excellent, but may be expensive if you are paying full rates. I got a winter special deal so this was great value for money.

A big beautiful flashy hotel situated above the main train station in Kyoto with easy access to the subway and therefore all parts of Kyoto. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was absolutely fantastic - everything had been covered. As a result, the suite was far better than the double room that we had paid for and fantastic value - without the upgrade it is quite pricey. Make sure that you get a package that includes breakfast as the buffet is brilliant!

The city view was phenomenal!

While being at the station is obviously a very central location, there are possibly better places to stay but you certainly can't fault the service and the quality.

Room Tip: We had a room with a fabulous city view - try and request one!

The location can't be beat - right in the center of Kyoto Station. Our room was moderately sized - fine for us. Staff speaks enough English to get by. Our room rate (2 different bookings) varied from $160 - $200/night, which was well worth it. Only con I can think of is that there isn't in-room coffee.
