“Super cozy and traditional Japanese house”
Reviewed 3 weeks ago for a stay in July 2018

This traditional Japanese house is located in a very calm neighbourhood, with nearby little shops, restaurants, sento (bath house) and konbini (convenience stores). Apart from the bikes available in the house, there are quite a few options for public transportation, including bus stops and a metro station close by so you can get downtown easily. The house is equipped with air conditioning (a must in Kyoto summer!) and a very nice, renovated bathroom. Many antiques decorate the space and the beds are really comfortable! Manami and Einar are really nice and were always ready to help us with any information about tourist spots and transportation options. A highlight is a notebook they prepared with all necessary information to explore the nearby area. I highly recommend Murasakino Guesthouse!

Dear Fabio,
Thank you for your time to give us a feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed our guesthouse and neighbourhood, and we could provide you with a comfortable stay (despite the crazy heatwave during your stay!). Also good to know that our bicycles and tourism information were useful to enhance your trip :)
Please come back to Kyoto to discover a different season someday in the future. We would be very happy to welcome you again! Many thanks again for staying with us!
Kind regards, Einar, Manami and Kai (our one year old son)

“Exceptional traditional house in Kyoto”

This house is amazing. Einar and Manami took great care of keeping and renovating the traditional items in the house: tatami mats, glass doors, paper doors, stair case, divisions. The decoration is beautiful. The gardens are lovely. The kitchen and bathroom (toilet and shower separated) are modern and fully functional. Air-conditioning is welcomed in Kyoto's hot and humid summer.

The neighbourhood is excellent. It is well located away from the busy city center, yet close enough to enjoy the shopping, restaurants and bars without loosing to much time in public transport. There are also local restaurants, grocery store and a few bars at walking distance. Since it is mostly a residential area, the noise level is very low, even during the day.

There are many touristic attractions in the area, such as the Golden temple. Personally, I prefer the Shimogamo shrine and the kamogawa river that are also very close.

The hosts, Einar and Manami, were wonderful, very keen to help us for all the questions we had. The guesthouse guidebook they prepared with great attention was well structured and very helpful. I especially liked the helpful english instructions to attend Japanese public baths. There are many at walking distance. Please try.

We were four adults. The house did not feel too crowded. This house would be excellent for a family. We will visit again.

Yes, we love antiques and would like to take part in preserving Japanese old houses and culture. Also glad to know that you liked our quiet neighbourhood and had a chance to enjoy the public bath. This is a very popular area for locals to live too.
Yes, we have many guests as a family including young children. Please come back with your children in the future, we would be always happy to welcome you back!
