I guess not every temple stop can wow the pants of you and some are interesting for differing reasons!

This one is interesting but not wow! I would make the stop of its on your way and you have plenty of time but if your short of time or becoming worn out from sightseeing then you could probably give this one a miss.

The rocks would be relaxing provided you are there solo but of course this isn't going to happen, so instead it's more a place to move through and stroll through the surrounding gardens.

Fair price compared to some of the other entry prices of other temples.

There are so many people talking and still have the sound on the camera as they take photos, it is impossible to experience any peace and quiet and contemplation in the rock garden. I also thought the stones were white but they are more of a grey fleck so not as impressive as I was expecting.
There are some lovely spots elsewhere though -the landscape garden with for trees & large pink granite rocks, the wisteria trellis overlooking the pond, the red tori arch and shrine over the small bridge. So it possible to stroll and admire nature at a slow pace.
I walked down the hill from the Golden Pavilion, took about 20 minutes and well signposted. Plenty of food and drink places on the way.

This temple is a must for it's garden which is in a precise patterned design of gravel with separate large rocks in a meaningful display of peace and tranquility.

Beautiful, peaceful and scenic gardens - maintained to perfection and the perfect aide to an afternoon of meditative contemplation.

I was not that impressed by the main attraction which is the rock garden.
The entrance costed about 5$ and the Golden Pavilion, which is pretty close, is cheaper and much more impressing in my opinion.
The surrounding garden is overall nice, but again, less impressing than the Golden Pavilion.
When you buy the entrance ticket - it's valid/checked only in the rock garden itself. I think the surroundings are free of charge.
