I happened to go in the time of reconstruction of the main building - it was all covered and the access inside prohibited. The Buddha statue is in a separate room reached through a tunnel amongst the reconstruction. Unfortunately the flowers in the garden and in the pond are either after or before the bloom so the view is not quite attractive. What actually gave me the bad impression was that the staff doesn't mention about the closed and unattractively looking building at the entrance - the ticket is 500 yen (quite expensive, esp. compared to the cheaper Bigs - Kinkakuji and Kyomizudera) as usual. I complained it was too expensive, and they should announce the reconstruction is going and/or reduce the price. I have been to another place where they carefully explained the situation, giving me the choice to enter or no, apologized for the incovenience and gave a beautiful picture as compensatuon. Today I was totally disappointed by the service and rude talks from the staff. Definitely out from my list!
