This conference center can do a great job of catering, depending on your organization's price point. I attended a 3-day event for which noon seminars were catered with お弁当 lunch boxes. Superb! But lunches and seating were limited, so some attendees had to fend for themselves. The one alternative on-site is a restaurant called the Grill, where I had a herbed chicken for ¥1,300. One can do better in Kyoto where there is competition. I arrived ~11:30, while there were few guests, promptly received water and someone took my order as soon as I was ready. Thereafter, it didn't occur to anyone to refill water glasses until I took the liberty of carrying my glass to a nearby servers' station where there were full pitchers ready and waiting. This prompted a gracious Japanese apology and the wait staff became more attentive toward everyone.

Another on-site feature, somewhat connected to "food service" is the tea house in the huge outdoor garden space. A tea ceremony experience was offered for up to 200 guests each day, over a 4-5 hour period. Most people at our conference queued for this over a couple of hours around noon. Consequently, there was more time in the queue than in the tea room. Thus, what would ideally approximate a mindful Japanese tea ceremony was abbreviated to: sit, receive your sweet, receive your tea, make room for the next group.

Overall, though, let me concur with other reviewers that this is a world-class conference center.

We attended a conference in KICC and it was well organized. There are very many rooms and halls that can accommodate large events. The garden around the KICC, with the Japanese trees and Lake, is marvelous and excellent for a relaxing walk or exercise.
For accommodation, the Grand Prince Hotel is at a 7 min walking distance and would be good and convenient choice.

Participated in international meetings here for several times. This is a large, well equipped and beautiful convention center. The conference staff are professional, elegant and helpful. Though located at a distance from the downtown, It can be easily reached by subway.

I’ve visited many international convention centers in Europe, Australia, America and Asia. I think the Kyoto International Conference Center deserve the best one.

Teees hugged concrete and steel structure is what gives you a simple but elegant feel. Like this place, fresh air, efficient layout, and easy subway access.
