We wanted a Ryokan experience but on a budget. This exceeded our expectations because most of the photos were very touristy/tacky/backpacker with cheesy dress ups going on. Actually, this is a really well run place where you get the proper Japanese floor futon (be sure to ask for it) and quaint Ryokan rooms. Its clean and very welcoming, has a nice common room for relaxing and reading after a day on your feet at the temples. They keep luggage for you and have good WiFi and all your necessities. Breakfast was in a nearby building with very authentic Japanese food and surroundings. Highly recommended - a real highlight of our trip across Japan.
