“Great Kamo River view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

Great location & I find everything tastes about the same as Canada. The view over the river is relaxing. If you come here on the #5 bus the closest stop is on the east side of the river at the Sanjo-Keihan metro stop.

“Amazing location and view of the river!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

This might be my favorite Starbucks location in the world. Located at the Northwest end of the Sanjo bridge, the famous meeting spot and river party spot of Kyoto. Almost every night there is live music or a performance at the river here. It's also a romantic spot for couples.

The Starbucks has a deck that goes out toward the river. You usually have to go to an expensive restaurant to have this outdoor river deck experience in the summer. They also have a "basement" level that is almost level with the bank of the river. Free wifi is now available if you register beforehand online, so plan ahead at your hotel! Don't ask my why this catch 22 is in place...

“Terrible service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

Atmosphere and taste are fine. but it was quite ridiculous to tell the consumer who just had a seat and skimmed through some papers that "it is not possible to study here." even it was not a rush hour(around 1500)

Coffee price contains the cost of the right of the consumer to have a seat and drink, but i think they started to take that kind of basic right away,

and secondly, if they want to say that it is impossible to read papers at their shop, then why don't they tell other consumers who were reading books or newspapers, to stop doing those kind of things?

It was my first visit, but i was really disappointed with their attitude and service mind.

Starbucks in Japan is not the same as Starbucks anywhere else. The coffee is more bitter. Get the Starbucks out of a can from the Family Mart instead, half the price and tastes better!

“Great location but too strict about using computers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2013

The locaition couldnt be better, it can be crowded at times, making it difficult to find a seat, but the staff is helpful. However at certain times you are not allowed to use the computer at all, which defeats the whole purpose of going to starbucks. So if you are just passing with a friend, its great, but on your own- best look for another one.
