“In the centre of old Kyoto and Gion...The place to be !!!”

A return to the past, in a perfect location. This townhouse ( Machiya ) was rebuilt a few years ago. Everthing is fairly new and it all works. For two of us it was perfect, much larger than a hotel room and in a very central location. We could walk to most places, and on occasion took a combination of taxi's and subway. Within 15 minutes walk are temples, gardens, Geishas, ( If you are lucky ), restaurants and shopping. There are food outlets close by so we used the well equipped kitchen for breakfast and snacks. The bathrooms are Japanese. Shower outside the tub, then get in and soak. TV on the wall in the upstarirs bath. Automatic toilets, with heated seats, very comfortable, and easy to get used to. There is a computer available in the small hallway for internet connection. No Wi Fi. The new Tv was nice but only available in Japanese. We got used to it, sports were easy ( Sumo Competition).
We would certainly return to this unit if we return to Kyoto. Dont come early for check in, the code you get is on a timer, 3 PM means 3 PM.

Thank you for your comments. Gion Koyuan is located near popular Gion Hanamikoji street where maikos and geikos can be often seen. Popular sightseeing spots, Yasaka Shrine, Kodaiji Temple and Kiyomizu-dera are also very conveniently accessible on foot. We now offer a complimentary wifi in the house.

Thank you very much for your stay and we look forward to hearing from you again next time!

Thank you for your kind feedback and congratulations on seeing a geiko and maiko! Koyuan is incredibly close to teahouses, temples and shopping districts, so I’m glad to hear that you were able to take advantage of that and experience Japanese culture to the fullest. I hope you or your friends will come stay at Koyuan sometime soon.

All the best.
