It took us a little while to find the reception for the hotel but once we knew where it was it was easy to get to. I had been a little worried that there might be a lot of noise in this hotel but it definitely was not the case. I only heard a train twice (we had 4 nights there), once in the evening a freight train went past, and another time I thought there was a trolley going past our room but it actually turned out to be a train. Its quite amazing really - the reception is the ground floor, there is no 2nd floor (that's part of the station) and the 3rd floor was where we were. When you walked out of the room into the hall you looked through a window directly at the station and people getting on the Shinkansen!! We had a family room which was a generous size. The bathroom was in multiple sections: a completely separate toilet, separate shower/bath room and another separate vanity wardrobe area - great for the family and getting everyone ready at once. We only had the buffet breakfast here once - it was ok but I think we had been spoilt elsewhere as we were a little disappointed. However, Kyoto station is like a city in itself. Plenty of places to eat or grab a pastry to take back to your room. There was a mini supermarket close by in the station that was open till late (10pm from memory). Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. We asked for help to write some questions in Japanese and they offered to ring for us instead which saved us a trip. Very happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Family room has bathroom with completely separate toilet

This hotel in Kyoto station which was very convenient. On the other hand the station is so large we got lost a couple of times just trying to find the hotel, so take good notes on your locations. Staff and personnel were very friendly but the language was a barrier at times. This was a big problem when we asked about transferring our baggage to our next hotel and discovered this hotel does not participate. They told us to go to 7-Eleven which felt awkward but believe it or not our luggage was sitting in our hotel room the very next day The station has many wonderful restaurants and shopping. We would stay there again. Happy trip.

I have stayed in other hotel in Kyoto and they are always next to the main Kyoto Train Station and this cannot go wrong. However, this hotel is even better as it is linked directly into the train station. However, rooms are always small in most parts of Japan cities. The previous hotel I stayed in opposite the station has larger rooms but older in condition. In this hotel, we almost cannot find ample space to open up 2 luggage. Generally happy with our stay. Do note that there is no safe in the room. Our rooms on the 3rd floor are facing to the trains platforms and to our surprise, we cant hear any sound from the trains.

The hotel is very convenient to rail and subway transportation and Kyoto Station has numerous eating places. Staff are helpful and gracious but it is hard to justify the high room price with the small, plainly furnished room. Kyoto is a high priced city anyway but we just didn't see the value that we received in other places in Japan.

As the hotel is inside the station, it's super convenient and makes transportation to tourist attractions so easy. And right by, there are endless possibilities of shopping and dining. The customer service is great, really friendly staff and would kindly allow us to hold our luggage before checking in and after checking out. I will say though that the rooms are pretty small, just enough for beds, a vanity, bathroom, and tiny closet. And of course, since it's in the station, the trains could be a distracting noise. But I didn't really mind the size or noise, and enjoyed my stay here at Kintetsu hotel!
