“Excellent location!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

Can't be any better location. Just right across the street from the Kyoto train station and bus terminal. The front desk staff were helpful. The room is small but it's Ok for Japan. All toiletteries were provided along with the night gown and slippers. Overall the room was clean but needed some upgrades. They were doing the renovation so hopefully the rooms will be improved in near future.

This is a hotel for mainly locals as its does not really cater for non Japanese, only a little English is spoken.
The hotel is just over the road from the station so it's very convenient for travellers, the hotel is very clean and the staff pleasant although the rooms are small and have too much furniture for the size of room. the bed is huge, far too large for the size of room. we had difficulty moving around the room; one person had to get out of the way to allow any movement around the room. Bathroom and Toilet were also made for very small and thin people.

Room Tip: The rooms are very clean and tidy but very cramped, perhaps a twin room may afford more space.

Stayed in Kyoto Hankyu hotel for 4 days on our 10 day long Japan trip. The location of the hotel is hard to beat. Right next to the Kyoto JR station and the bus station. Very accommodating staff and helpful with directions.
Rooms were small but that is to be expected, its in Japan after all. If i have state a negative that would be English language skills of the front desk staff was a little weak and the chinese restaurant.
We didnt bother to eat breakfast at the hotel as it was too expensive and there were many other cheaper and better options around.

Checked in 24/3/2014.
We have only been here 4 hours so far.
The ungratful staff member we dealt with at the front desk was very rude. And even as we went out for dinner he 'glared' at us.
The room is big enough for the price that we are paying. (Twin bed)
Quite dirty. There are two used tissues in the centre sideboard.
The front door and walls are very thin. We can hear the people across the hall every time they open their door. And talking near the lifts. We can even clearly hear the coins returning in the vending machine on our floor.
Good point it has vending machines on most floors, has a selection of beer (normal vending machine prices too). Pity we can hear the bloody thing.
The room really could do with a good clean out.
We have 5 nights booked here.
What a shame!!!
I hope the rest of our stay in this place is better. And I dont catch any diseases....

It was just an OK hotel. Rooms were OK but nothing special. Breakfast was overpriced and rubbish. On the second morning I resorted to going round the corner for a McDonalds breakfast .. a fifth of the price and oh so much better! Be careful where your room is as the road outside is busy and at one end there is a pedestrian crossing which chirps like a bird every few minutes till you want to strangle it!

Room Tip: Beware of the chirping pedestrian crossing outside it could keep you awake all night!

The location is superb. After landing from Kansai airport, we took the kansai airport express and 75mins we arrived at Kyoto station, 3mins walk from the train station, we reached the hotel. There is a 24hr Lawson convenience store just across the hotel. Taxis are always readily waiting infront of the hotel.

We were supposed to be staying at level 5, but they later called us and said they are moving us up to level 9. Although the sizes of the rooms are the same, the rooms at level 9 were newer, in terms of design. The room is perfect, but the toilet has a weird unpleasant smell coming from it. The staff were friendly and helpful.

For the price we paid, this is extremely worth it.

Room Tip: Choose level 9 rooms.

I have read the reviews before I decided to stay in this hotel. I did not have high expectation since it is a budget trip with my friends. The convenient location of the hotel attracted me. I expected the room will be small with worn decoration. But I have never imagine it is such a dirty hotel in Japan. I even don't want to place my stuff inside the wardrobe. Despite of that, their concierge is friendly and helpful.
