Inside the hotel is absolutely wonderful, beautiful decor and well furnished. All staff were happy to help and full of respect to the customer. Only critique would be price of restaurant but Other than that a truly wonderful place to stay in Kyoto.

We stayed here with 2 children in the quad room. Worked out much better than 2 connecting rooms for us (though some families may prefer 2 room privacy).
The room was very large for Japan with lots of space. Service was excellent and a good breakfast buffet in the morning to start your day.
The location is in a residential neighbourhood, but only a couple blocks from the imperial palace, and there is a free shuttle to a major transit/subway station. You will not have a lot of restaurant selections right outside the door, but it is not hard to get to them.
I would definitely stay here again, especially if traveling with children.

We stayed in a 4 person room which was a regular room with 2 roll away beds added so it was a little tight. The hotel was very nice. Clean. Most of the staff spoke English well and all were very eager to make our stay enjoyable and easy. The only hesitation I have about staying here again is it's location is pretty far from the center of things. You can walk to the imperial palace but because the hotel is located in a neighborhood without a subway, it's hard to get anywhere without taking a taxi. The on site restaurants were very good but expensive. All in all - if you want a very good hotel in a slightly out of the way spot, Kyoto Brighton is an excellent choice.

Excellent service at this hotel. The first room we were given smelt of smoke but we were moved swiftly. The hotel itself is a bit far out which can be seen as an advantage but as we didn't eat at the hotel, preferring to eat in city restaurants, this was a disadvantage for us. The room was very comfortable with a fantastic bathroom!

We stayed there for 2 nights for a family trip. The hotel is a bit far from the main train station and you will need to take a taxi to get there. However, the location is quiet and safe. The service at the hotel was wonderful, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable for US travelers. They have a lovely deep soaking bathtub in each room. We enjoyed the breakfast - both Western and Japanese styles - in the hotel. Their cafe in the lobby was a good option for late afternoon snack.

Japanese customer service is always very impressive, it's good hotel with smiley and helpful staff. Location is not very convenient as it's far from the subway, but hotel offers shuttle bus which is quite handy.
