This is definitely 1 highly recommended hotel in my opinion. The location is slightly outside of city center. But they provide regular complimentary shuttle service to bring guests to train station within city center (Karasuma Oike Station). Though we drove, but since parking within city center was a challenge, we took their shuttle service when we wanted to visit Pontocho Alley, Nishiki market. It’s very convenient. This hotel is also within walking distance to Kyoto Imperial Palace. It’s a nice easy walk there.
The hotel staff were all very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Our room was the “Executive Quad” room. It was new and clean. The size was spacious for our family of 4. There were 4 very comfortable beds and with enough room to open 2 to 3 luggage at a time. The bathroom was big with good towels and toiletries provided. And I must say, the complimentary tea bags (green tea, roasted tea, etc) and premium “drip” coffee was the best I’ve tasted. I should have purchased a few packets from them to bring home :)
Parking is free, at basement of the hotel – that’s a plus point for us too :)

The hotel although not located centrally, is a perfect location to stay during a Kyoto experience. You are in a very quiet and subdued neighbourhood. There are some very interesting and reasonably priced restaurants located nearby. The room is large and comfortable. Like most Japanese hotels the amenities are exceptional. The bar is quite over priced.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights whilst visiting Kyoto. The hotel rooms are quite large with comfortable beds and even had a small sofa and dining table area. The bathroom was pretty spacious compared to some of the hotels we have stayed in Japan.

We had opted for breakfast at the hotel, which had an option of two restaurants, one was a western style buffet and the other was a traditional Japanese set menu. We opted for the western style buffet as the Japanese menu did not have any vegetarian options. The breakfast spread at the western buffet was not the largest however, had enough to give you a kick start to the day especially if you are planning on doing a lot of sight seeing on foot like we were.

The hotel had a great free shuttle service to and from Karasuma Oike subway station which departed every 20 minutes starting at 8.10 and the last shuttle was 21.30 from the hotel. The shuttle departed from Karasuma Oike subway station 10 minutes after the timings from the hotel. The Karasuma Oike subway station is only 3 stops from Kyoto station so if you are taking the Shinkansen on the JR pass you have to factor in the extra time it might take you to get to this hotel.

We had shipped our bags from Tokyo Narita which cost us 3844 (Appox. £26) for two large 4 wheel Samsonite cases which arrived the next day. The hotel even took our cases up to our room before we got back from our day out.

I would have no trouble recommending this hotel to other guests. The overall service of the staff was great and the accommodation was of a high standard.

The hotel is very nice- it has a huge lobby with a nice bar and a few restaurants. Rooms are spacious with great shower. Quiet neighborhood close to Imperial Palace Park but not close to much else. It’s a long walk or a bus ride to most sights and restaurants.
