Looks nice from both outside and in the lobby.

Friendly efficient staff

Room is a nice size but dated looking.

No ironing board or iron.

Bathroom a little small .

Breakfast is buffet style, and no barista.

Bar is in a large open area and lacks 'warmth'.

Recommended.

It's been a long time since I've been to Kyoto, but the hotel was still beautiful. Stayed in the Luxury Suite. Cleaning and staff were good.
立地が良いので、近くの神社や食事もタクシーで10分位で繁華街に出れます。テイクアウトの食パンを事前に予約しておくと、チェックアウト時にできたてが頂けます。

Located a few minutes walk to the Imperial Palace is this hotel. This area is considered to be a "quiet zone" so there is a minimal commercial activity. There are very few restaurants and the closest convenience stores are a block or two away.

If you ever watched movies like Die Hard or In the Line of Fire, you remember scenes in a hotel with a large indoor atrium with glass elevators. All the room doors face the open atrium. That is exactly what the design of this hotel is like. All the amenities are on the ground floor or below.

As for the rooms. For Japan, these rooms are quite large. It would be comfortable for international visitors who are used to larger rooms. The amenities are not branded but of higher quality.

There are three areas for parking. Ground level, basement, and outdoor. While checkout is at noon, you get complimentary parking until 3 pm. We choose this hotel for this feature. Allows you to spend the day exploring without worrying about the expensive street parking costs.

There is a taxi stand with taxis until about 10 pm.

There are five restaurants, be fair warned, all are quite pricy. There are two breakfast options. If you want a traditional Japanese breakfast, you go to the Japanese restaurant Hotaru. If you want a "western" breakfast, there is a buffet at the Terrace restaurant.

We were not interested in seeing the nightlife but wanted to be close to the Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. This hotel was perfect for our needs.

Would recommend without hesitation.

I’ll be quite honest, our first impressions when we arrived (by Coach from Kobe) was that it was underwhelming, dull and uninspiring, nor as large as we had expected, and in a fairly unremarkable Residential area. Kyoto was afterall The Capital of Japan (where the Emperor lived from 794 until 1868) and it was spared the worst of the bombing during World War II, due to its History, grandeur and splendour.

Inside was quite a different story – modern, airy, massive atrium dominated the centre with Rooms, on each of 4 sides. Rooms were quite large, twin-beds pushed together to form a Double-Bed. Clean well-appointed and equipped, and we slept very well.

Breakfast was good, but in a rather small and quite crowded area, so the Buffet demanded a lot of maneuvering round each other and the staff, who could not keep up with refreshing items that had run-out. Central to the ground floor was a Lounge wherein they also served drinks and snacks. We (4/5) sat there once whilst waiting for our 40+ people Coach to arrive. “No Drink, No Food, No Seat” - we unceremoniously were ordered out. Not a good move – to alienate 40 Guests in one move. An impromptu boycott followed

The Hotel is due West of the Imperial Palace, so great Location for that, but their Courtesy Bus was well-used for folks wanting to go into the City, or take Buses to visit Tourist attractions etc, or obviously one could take a Taxi. There really was almost nothing in its vicinity, by way of Supermarkets, Restaurants nor Bars. We ate elsewhere every night, but IN the City Centre proper – see above.

They had Restaurants, but they were way too expensive for our tastes/Budgets, so we could not Comment/Review them.

We returned to Kyoto (our favourite Japanese City) nearly 4 weeks later, but this time stayed in a different Hotel, right in the heart of the City, where we spent tens of thousands of Yen in one night in their Bar.

A grand hotel with a great entrance, gorgeous interior and very attentive friendly staff.

We were in a room near the elevator but it was very quiet. The room was large with plenty of room for the cot and for the baby to play in. Bath tub was enormous and filled quickly.

Was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet as it was a limited selection and most of the food wasn’t covered so when other guests are coughing (particularly with the cooler weather in November) in the buffet area it’s a bit deterring.

Location wise, hotel is a bit of a cab ride from Kyoto station and a walk to restaurants and other sights. We walked to the children’s playground at the old palace which is a quiet and very tranquil. We took taxis to most attractions.
