“Good location”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

The hotel is just located on Gion area, good for shopping; also next to a famous temple, good for visit. Moreover, the hotel is equipped all the things you need, shower gel, shampoo, conditioners, hair dryer, towels and so on. However, the bed is too soft to sleep on, uncomfortable, and the bathroom is too small to take a nice shower. All in all, it is good for just one night stay in Kyoto.

I spent 3 nights here in April and would be very happy to go back on my next visit to Kyoto. The location was very good and close to the Geisha district. I could walk easily to most central places.

The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. I also enjoyed the breakfasts here as there is a better choice than the other Japanese hotels I stayed at.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

Perfectly located in Kyoto for sightseeing on foot or by bus, easy access to the train station for days out, for example, to Nara, near shops, restaurants, Geisha districts. A good breakfast buffet (the best one I experienced in Japan) with both Japanese and Western food. The room was well kitted out, including fridge, hairdryer, hot water boiler, robe and slippers. No English language television channels. Free in room wi-fi. The only issue was the size of the room. Small and badly designed so it seemed smaller. The positioning of the wall hung television was particularly badly thought out and I knocked into the edge of it constantly. A room reaarangement would much improve things. Small bathroom with the expected toiletries etc.

Great hotel in a great position. Just fantastic, close to restaurants, tourist sights, shopping.
Gion area is very interesting and transportation is close by. Great local bus service to visit tourist attractions. Raku buses, tickets for these buses and other local buses covered on a one day pass. Can be purchased from the hotel.500 Yen. Found the buses best in Kyoto for getting around.
Only downside of this hotel was the breakfast, very little variety for non Japanese guests.

Stayed here for 2 nights in March 14'. Location is excellent, easy to find and easy to launch yourself from. I was on a room at the side and over the ugly metal infrastructure of the neighbours could see the temple gate and cross roads. Bit of noise, mainly from a pair of crows squabbling outside, apart from this hotel was quiet and orderly. Room was a decent size, so was bed, all clean and tidy, only real complaint was the net curtains, which for some reason were faded brown and had tears. Hotel staff English speakers who kindly provided me with adaptor for phone charging and had free Wi-Fi. You can also leave luggage if you check in/out early which is good. Cold beer from vending machine in the hall for a quid, what more could you ask? Overall very happy with it, price was good too.

The reception is on the first floor, that confuses a bit. service was very good. The room was clean and good size for Japanese standards. All high quality necessities in the bathroom. The location is great, close to shrines and temples and on the main shopping street with variety of good restaurants. The negative comment goes to their breakfast which is extra paid but absolutely not worth it. Better to go down to Sturbacks which is on the ground floor.

First impressions good, nice modern hotel, very clean, comfortable western beds and well equipped bathrooms. Prices are very reasonable and the central position is great. My room only had one pillow, I requested more and another 3 arrived promptly. Free wi fi and fairly quiet with good air con/heating to rooms. So far so good. Then breakfast, hhhmmmmmm. Good selection of good so scrambled egg and sausage from the buffet. Oh no, stone cold. Never mind, let's try pancakes and fried egg, stone cold. And I mean stone cold. So pastries and tinned fruit for breakfast. What a shame, this was repeated every morning of my stay. This detail let the whole thing down for me so I can't recommend this hotel but solely for this one reason. If you can get a room only deal then definitely give it a go. Starbucks on the ground floor is a plus.
