“Kyoto Towers Hotel”
Reviewed 16 May 2013

Well located, opposite Kyoto station which has excellent shopping. From the hotel you can go up the Kyoto Tower (entry free for hotel guests). Big and lovely temptation are the souvenir shops --there is connecting door form the hotel!. The hotel and the shops have some discount arrangement they will tell you about. Also a free drink on the house at the hotel bar every night you are there. Room was so small I hot the walls if I stood akimbo. Nice sized bed but grim colours--grey and brown. Bathroom also very tiny but clean, with a steep step leading to it. It is reputed to serve the best sea food in the area, and we certainly had a fantastic dinner of it. Breakfast is generous and served in a large airy restaurant. Continental as well as Japanese food.

Friends and I stayed here together just for one night.
After staying in hostels, our stay at this hotel was wonderful.
We had a fantastic large room. Very clean and good view.
This hotel is in a great location, and we wouldn't hesitate in staying again.
All the staff were lovely and helpful also.

Close to the station but so are a number of others in the same price range. Rooms are small and noisy as they face the street and terminus.
Tower was closed for renovations so the free visit did not make up for the price.
If you are on a budget would suggest as an option.

Unfortunately , the tower is closed for renovation until 1st qtr of next year, so did not enjoy the complimentary visit of the tower. Stayed in a double room .. very narrow and cramp for 2 persons. Terrible smell, had to open the window for ventilation. If you would like to stay in this hotel , advise to get twin room.. which is slightly bigger room. Great location though.

I thought I walked into a wrong room at first. The room is just large enough for a single bed and a narrow passage. If you close the bathroom door, you won't be able to bend down to wash your face. To get to the desk, you need to climb over the bed. And so many more... The hotel's entrance is quite small as well, so we were wandering around the base of the tower under the Kyoto Tower Hotel sign looking for the entrance.
On the other hand, the service is handy and adequate. You'll always encounter smiling staff when needing help. English proficiency definitely could be better, but usable already. Breakfast is nice and choices are there.
This is the Japanese standard I think. But I regret for saying the corner room of Strings by Intercontinental in Tokyo is small. It is really HUGE compared with this.

This hotel although is very conveniently placed, is run-down, definitely not three stars. But what made our impression terrible is that the price we booked it for was increased by $100/night at checkout.
Avoid!

Stayed here again for Kyoto holiday. This hotel is conveniently located - just opposite to Kyoto station. Bus terminals (to all major tourist attractions) are just across the road and downstairs is the underground shopping center.

This time upon check-in, coupons are provided to each hotel guest to visit the Kyoto Tower for free. Good deal!
