Great hotel in the middle of Kyoto, we walked to most places but the subway is also close by. Hotel staff were lovely, rooms were nice and modern, breakfast had a nice selection. It was also nice to have a selection of places to eat and drink in the hotel.

Large rooms! What a good find in tight compact Japan! Had 2 twin rooms. Very nice. Comfy stay. Didn't like the pajamas they provided (like hospital gown) but other than that, everything was good! Toiletries and amenities provided. Just pack your clothing and come stay!
Shijo station is just below, climb up the exit and you reach the hotel. Very convenient. The first time we walked past it because the entrance is actually just beside the Starbucks. But the signage was abit distance away.
The staff can speak English, check in was smooth and speedy. What we didn't like was the lift!! It's an old hotel so the lift is like stuck in the 70s? It doesn't have a sensor on the door, so if the open button isn't held on, the door will slam on you. We were hit by the door a few times on the first day. Other guests who joined us in the lift were also surprised when the lift door slammed on them!
The hotel is very well placed, short distance subway or bus ride to major tourist attractions and shopping strip. Lots of food and shops nearby.
Will surely stay here again the next time we are in Kyoto!!

If you are arriving from Tokyo via Shinkanshen, do note that the subway is not as well linked as Tokyo station. You need to go out of the JR and the subway station is underground. Take the Karasuma line to Shijo (2 stops) and you Passmo card can also be used here. When you reach the station, find EXIT 4, as this is the exit with a lift! Exit 6 which as instructed on the hotel website doesn't have an elevator so if you have big luggage take note. When you exit from exit 4, Turn Right", the hotel is just next to it.
Decent side bedroom with 2 single bed and a sofa which can also sleep one person. Bathroom is usually small but functional. No safe box in room unfortunately. Rooms come with a humidifier but aircon can't be tune much - Low, medium or high.
Room wifi is weak, devices show connected but can't go online. Ask for the wifi password at counter if you need one. Otherwise good location and nice room size.
