We stayed for 3 nights as part of a wider Japan trip and found the Aranvert to be absolutely fine. It was clean, tidy and quiet and we would gladly come back.
The staff were always very helpful , smiling and courteous and the room itself was spacious, tidy and comfortable and given the price of hotel rooms in Kyoto I think it can be considered as reasonably priced. It is close to a subway station and a variety of the main areas are within walking distance so for me it totally served its purpose.
If you do rely on using Wifi on your travels then I would avoid the Aranvert as their system is a shocker. Our stay here was part of a 5 week adventure throughout Asia and this was the only accommodation we stayed in that did not have in room wifi. Quite surprising considering that this feat was possible in a cheap 1 star guest house in Pak Beng, Laos where electricity is not even guaranteed. Instead it was only available in the Hotel Lobby and even that was massively unreliable being out of action for about two days whilst there. Although a mild annoyance it was hardly the end of the world for us so I still give 4 stars for what was a perfectly acceptable hotel.More
