This affordable hotel is 2 minutes walk from Gojo Station which is one stop away on a subway line from Kyoto Station. You can also around 15-20 minutes from Kyoto Station. We stayed here very recently for 3 consecutive nights during the busy Golden Weekend. Free Wi-fi is available only at the lobby and you need to bring your own laptop cable if you want to connect in your own room. Room is just fine, not too big and yet not too cramped. Breakfast on the second floor is buffet with a good selection of Japanese and Western food but with limited variety however. Best part is the indoor public hot bath on the 13th floor (separate for men and women) where you can soothe your aching muscles after a day of walking and touring Kyoto. It has a good view of Kyoto too.The ladies at the reception counter were very helpful in pointing out places to go, very courteous and friendly.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of an OAT's trip originating in the United States. We were told that OAT's had recently added this hotel to their roster due to an increase in number of travelers. The hotel has a good location to many sights that a tourist might want to see including the Kamo River which is walking distance. The rooms were clean except for the stained carpets. The internet only worked in the first floor lobby and that service was intermittent and frequently "dropped" connections. This was pretty aggravating in a hotel that you are at for 5 nights. The top floor spa is lovely. I used it several times. The hotel smells of cigarette smoke in the halls and in rooms that are supposedly non smoking. My room was fine but my brother's room was awful. The hotel did switch his room on the second night when a "room opened up". This smoke issue was especially aggravating as there is another hotel two doors down which is designated "non-smoking". OAT's tours are advertised to be totally non smoking. Finally, the breakfast service has two categories-tourist class and "regular/business. Both are buffet. We were in tourist class which was very convenient though not classy. That's okay but you should be aware that it is a lot like a college dorm dining hall. Although all of the guests that were there when we were there were Westerner's, the breakfast is 70% Japanese style items. I managed okay on the items that were available but after 5 days, the options were a little limiting. If you are there for a shorter time, this would not be a problem. Most people in our group of 15 agree that they will advise OAT's to use another hotel in Kyoto on the next round of their contracts.

The hotel is modern, clean and everything in the room was in working condition. You need a network cable to connect to the internet and the hotel loaned one to me.

The breakfast was delicious, it was well worth the extra $10 or so that they charged me. It comprised of both Japanese western options in a beautifully set buffet.

My only complaint was that the English proficiency of the staff was abysmal. I had trouble getting them to print something for me, which I suppose veers outside the check-in/check-out script they are prepared to perform.

Well situated, accessible hotel, near main train station and main subway line. Service is curteous although staff is just about multilingual apart for well known phrases and wordings. Thats maybe why tourist maps are handed and handy. Beds are of decent size compare to most japanese accommodation and comfortable enough to sleep, the front street is also quiet with minimum noise perceivable inside. Rooms are fully equipped with internet access (wired), tv and minibar. Carpets may show tear and wear but are clean and dust free, just some nasty unremovable stains.

Room Tip: Non-smoking is a plus in a country where smoking is not fully prohibited in public places

Hotel close to the main station (10 min walking) and close to the city center. WiFi only in the lobby wich makes the rating lower. The have a nice compementary spa on the top floor with a wounderful view over the city. Close to metro station and busses to go to the major sites.
