This new hotel is beautifully designed and constructed and sits on the riverside in a very unobtrusive way. It fits the role of a luxury destination with the equivalent price tag. The hotel's Italian restaurant is beautiful and food of an excellent standard and a bit of welcome change from having dined Japanese most meals. The hotel opened in Feb 2014 and I stayed in July at a time when the hotel was clearly not very full. The staff were all very well trained and were clearly trying to give the best service and experience possible. However, I was disappointed with my room which I was later informed was a "medium" level room ie not the lowest standard. Its room had a view of a cement wall, yes cement, and the room rate was $800-$1000 AUD per night. My feedback to management at the end of the stay was taken on board - in that if you are attempting to build a reputation and are not full then guests should be offered either a complimentary upgrade or discounted upgrade so that unless absolutely necessary no guest gazes out at a cement wall. Yes, I should have made my point at the beginning of my stay! So avoid rooms ending in "45" mine was 245.
