“Brilliant stay.”
Reviewed 2 September 2014

I stayed here for 10 days in August 2014 and had a brilliant stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful and all spoke great English. They did everything they could to make the stay better; giving me extra pillows, bringing plates/chopsticks to the room, lending me an umbrella, helping phone a tour company and giving recommendations.

The room was ideal and after staying in Tokyo seemed very spacious!! It was a single room but still had a double bed, desk, wardrobe, comfy chair and coffee table. The bathroom was also a good size with a nice shower/bath. The aircon was average - I had it on the lowest setting (18degrees) and it wasn't super powerful or cold. Breakfast was delicious - they had a great selection of Western and Japanese food. It was exactly the same every day but because of the big selection this didn't matter.

The location of the hotel was good. It is 2.5km from Kyoto station and took about 45mins to walk. It is 2km from Nijo station and was a very brisk 30min walk. I only had a JR pass and didn't use the subway so this meant a walk at the start and end of my day if I was going somewhere outside of Kyoto. However, the location to explore Kyoto is fantastic - everywhere is still a little walk or cycle away but can easily be discovered on foot. The main shopping streets, Nishiki market and the imperial palace are all very close.

A brilliant stay!

When I first arrived at this hotel, I honestly thought that I had mistaken the address. This place was so much nicer and fancier than I could have expected for the price I had paid for the night. The ground floor and reception area is really quite elegant, the rooms are reasonably large (by Japanese standards) and quite comfortable.

The hotel lies really in the heart of Kyoto, within walking distance of two major subway stations and the most important bus stop crossing (for buses going to the tourist spots). The "eastside" highlights can even covered on foot from here, if you are a good walker. The major shopping streets are within 10min walking distance.

This is a large hotel v convenient from the underground and a 30 minute walk to Ginza district and main sights of Kyoto. Also well placed for two Starbucks and a family mart supermarket. We didn't eat in the hotel which looked expensive but good. Lots of good restaurants nearby. The interior of the hotel was lovely a and full of character and the room quiet and comfortable.

Conveniently located just a block off the subway station and within a few blocks walk to Nishiki market, with a nice onsen bath on the top floor and clean comfortable rooms. We emailed the hotel asking them to make dinner reservations for us and they responded right away with clarifications and made the booking within the next hour. When we arrived we were handed a folder with a map highlighting the location of the hotel and the restaurant, with instructions of how to get there. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return when we come back to kyoto again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights to attend a conference at Kyoto International Convention centre. It was a very comfortable hotel and a very good location. Just 10-15 minute walk to the best nightlife neibourhoods of Kyoto and 5 min walk to the metro station. The staff are all very helpful and polite (like everywhere else we visited in Japan). To be honest it is difficult to find something negative about this hotel.

This hotel is quite impressive on the inside! Rooms were smallish, but stylish and clean. What was a bit disappointing was that the coffee was not included, instead you had to pay for it on check out. The staff were are all very friendly and helpful, but most of the staff's English are extremely limited, which led to a few misunderstandings. They do have helpful charts with restaurants and bus routes to the attractions, which came in handy.

Breakfast is mostly Japanese, with a limited choice of western food.

We just returned from staying at this hotel in Kyoto and found it to be a lovely place to stay. The rooms were of a good size, the king size bed was huge (we could have slept diagonally in the bed!) and the location right in central Kyoto near a subway stop. I used the hotsprings as well located in the top floor which had an amazing view of Kyoto to contemplate as I relaxed and unwound from a day of visiting temples and exploring Kyoto. The staff were very friendly as well, helping make reservations and advise on the best way to travel around Kyoto. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others as well!

Room Tip: Choose a high room to get a great view!
