We were staying in the other Sakura Terrace hotel and went for dinner at The Gallery. We explained to the waitress that 'chili would make my wife ill' and showed her a Google translation in Japanese. The waitress said that she understood. However when the food arrived 45min later there were green chillies in my wife's vegetable order. We complained and the staff accepted that they made a mistake. Our concern is that in future people could become seriously ill if The Gallery doesn't improve it's approach to food allergies and intolerances.

Stayed for 3 nights and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
There is free coffee available throughout the day.
They offer a welcome drink every evening.
The restaurant is only open in the evening and is only open to guests and I would recommend making a booking as it gets very busy. Whilst it is a limited menu the food is excellent and very good value. There is also evening entertainment with changes each night,
The buffet breakfast is also excellent.
The rooms are very comfortable.
Highly recommended this hotel.

Originally recommended by a travel agency and so glad I booked it. Staff are very friendly and speak good English. We stayed in the Deluxe King room and it was a big room with a very comfortable bed. The hotel offers a free welcome drink every night to all guests, this is great because you end up chatting to other guest around the fire pit. There is also free tea and coffee all day. We ate in the restaurant on the last night, the food was good and reasonable. The breakfast had a wide selection and there was plenty of it. The hotel is 3 minutes walk from Kyoto station where you can get a bus or train to anywhere in Kyoto and beyond. If you are visiting Kyoto then stay here you will not be disappointed.

Room tip: Go for at least Deluxe to get a balcony and a bigger room

Such a lovely, comfortable, beautifully designed hotel. The staff are lovely and helpful and upgraded our room as we were on our honeymoon :) Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and really good value. The free drink in the bar every day and the tea and coffee in the lounge were a nice bonus and the free laundry facilities very useful. Convenient location a few minutes walk from the station.

The property is beautiful, centrally located and well cared for. The sent (public bath) was a wonderful feature and a welcome reprieve after a day of sightseeing. The evening free welcome drink was a nice touch too. The room was comfortable, very clean and nicely decorated and outfitted (i.e. fridge, WiFi, tea, etc.). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property.
