Great stay at the Noku!

Review of Noku Kyoto
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 May 2024via mobile
Beautiful moderately sized hotel in a great location in Kyoto. Not too far from everything you need to see, but quiet enough to get a peaceful nights sleep!

The breakfast was good and tasty. Maybe just avoid turning up to breakfast at peak hours as it does get busy / a little slow.

Right outside the tube station which is super handy getting to from Kyoto station.

Would recommend this to everyone staying in Kyoto!!

Exceptional hotel in every way! A lucky find for us! Courteous, highly efficient and polite staff went out of their ways to assist us and see to that our travel was smooth and enjoyable. The complimentary tea and coffee with the Japanese biscuits are really nice. A short stroll to the Imperial Palace and the Park. Public transport is everywhere within short strolls from the hotel. The staff understand and communicate in English well.

The hotel is very conveniently situated above a metro station, so you can zip down to central Kyoto with no fuss (tip - we never found a machine vending the bus and subway day cards at that station but you can a buy in advance at Kyoto Station and activate them as you need to).
We had two interconnecting rooms and found we had plenty of space. There were some snacks with the tea things which was a nice touch.
The rooms were nicely decorated, bathroom on the small side but did have space to lay out your toiletries.
The only downer was the inclusive breakfast. There is a board by the lifts in the evening which gives you estimated waiting times for the morning - eg between u
7 and 7:30, no wait, 7:30-8 15 mins etc. the cafe is tiny and they just don’t seem to be able to cope. If there was a coffee pot placed on the “buffet”, there were no cups. I confess we resorted to the McDonald’s over the road for the rest of our stay.

Clean, tidy, spacious room with comfortable seating and bed. Friendly staff. Japanese breakfast was very good with selection of fruit. Conveniently located next to Metro station which provided easy access to all areas of the city and the main rail station. Local convenience store next to hotel.

Beautifully designed rooms that were spotlessly clean down to the polished surfaces and crisp bedsheets. The amenities were second to none with every last detail thought about and nothing left to chance. The clearly well-trained staff made my stay a pleasure - understanding all my needs and made it clear that nothing was too much. Extremely good hotel and more than value for money. I will certainly be visiting again when next in Kyoto.

Fell out of the underground station straight into this hotel. Again, the room 212 had everything apart the view of the brick wall of the next building. However we didn't spend much time in the room. Hairdryers, toiletries, pjs, kettle etc. Beds (like in the other hotels) were very comfy. Breakfast was the only let down as there is a small restaurant at front of hotel the provides breakfast but it is too small for the hotel. The food was not great either however it was fine if you didn't want to go out and look for an alternative.

Room tip: Be patient at breakfast, we experienced long queues and not great service
