“Very good location but...”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Cannot fault the location being near the Temple and only a 5 minute bus ride from the railway station. The owners are very hospitable although their English is not that great (our Japanese even worse). The front rooms face onto the busy main road and are noisy. There are plenty of rooms further back but I think they are smaller. Plenty of up and down stairs and no ensuites but the onsen was good to have. No shortage of places to eat and drink nearby.

Really loved these large rooms, and the family that runs it welcomed us with open arms. There is also a private onsen for families, which was just wonderful.

Clean, roomy, comfortable. Highly recommend.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in a fantastic location. The host was very polite and helpful. The room was a good size in authentic japanese style. There was shared amenties, but they included a japanese bath. I would highl;y recommend this to friends.

This was the only Ryokan, i stayed at while in Japan, however the rooms, facilities and the service were excellent.

From when we first got off the bus, and walked past the hotel the attentive staff saw us with our luggage and chased us up the street with our names written in several different languages, to greet us and welcomed us to their Ryokan, took our luggage up all the stairs, so we had great views, and always great service like traditional tea in our room on arrival to heat packs when we were going to go snowboarding to letting us borrow snow shoes for trip to Shiga Koen, the hot bath, (immitation onsen) was also very nice touch and not expected as this place was not expensive and right in the middle of town.

Great Place
