Lived for one night here as part of a Shirahama onsen and Osaka hotel and flight package. It’s close to midnight when we checked in. The location is a blessing as it’s just a few blocks away from the metro station where 24-hr eateries are still available. The lobby is really old and dim with décor of the 70s. In-house beer and even salad dressing are weirdly on sale there. They had even locked the front door after we went out for a midnight dinner upon check-in. The friendly staff was surprised to find us outside.

We checked in to a small room which is tore and tired. The window opens to a wall and the lighting looks grey. It’s the only hotel washroom in this trip of mine that doesn’t have an electronic water closet. The bath tub and shower looked up to a dusted exhaust which was quite deterring. We had our slippers on around the room to avoid stepping on the aged carpet. Bed linings and sheets were clean though.

Oddly still, this hotel was the only hotel in my trip that had wi-fi access, giving us updates which were quite missed. Happily entertained by the Internet, we were amused by the breakfast place which sounded more like a school camping canteen than a hotel restaurant. Instead of cooked dishes, they had several kinds of individually wrapped bread and buns as a buffet. There were juices and coffee with choice of espresso, cappuccino, etc. The buns were ok actually, but the espresso would not be missed.

If you care only about location, this hotel would be acceptable. We suspect the rates here are real low. A renovation is badly needed though, why don’t they consider that for charging more?

Checked in for 3 nights. I rate this hotel just average as I stayed in better hotels.

Pros: Size of the rooms are slightly bigger than other hotels I stayed in. I remember there used to be 1 hotel I don't even have space to put my suitcase. Only 10 minutes walk from the JR station/subway station. Complimentary breakfast that includes all you can eat pastries and drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, espresso, capuccino, hot water, grape juice, orange juice, ice water). Did i mention they have corn soup packets? There's a Lawson 2-5 stores down the street in case you need anything. Helpful staff. Housekeeping does a good job cleaning everyday although you cannot clean "old carpets". Room has a fridge and thermos. 7 minutes walk to the Osaka Airport Limousine station (in the rain). Very close by to Miyakojima Dori which I can find all the nice restaurants and shops.

Cons: The room is very old and beat up. The desk and the end table gave me a feeling of the 70's and 80's. There's a hint of cigarette smell in the room although the room is a non-smoking room. The sink is cracked but I assumed they cannot just swap the sink out. No bidet nor toilet seat warmer. Althought I don't use the bidet function but toilet seat warmer is great for winter so it was a bummer. The bathroom has no vent nor fan so all the water vapor goes back to your room after shower. There's no thermostat in the room beisdes a knob you can adjust the fan speed at the end table. They use the old fashioned key entry so you have to leave your key at the front desk whenever you leave the hotel.

In conclusion, this is a very typical business hotel which has good rates compare to the rest of the hotels around the area. The pictures on the website I made the reservation must've been taken years ago as the rooms definitely shows wear and tear from years of use. If you're a budget traveller who is simply looking for a place to stay and take a shower, this is the one. If you're leisure traveller who is looking for comfort, I suggest you to look some place else. To me, I rather spend my money on food and other places so I don't mind this place. And like I said, housekeeping did a good job changing linens so I'm okay with this stay.
