Shin-Osaka Station Hotel Annex

It is more like a Bed and Breakfast rather than a Hotel. Hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes walk away from Shin-Osaka station. Just follow the rail tracks and you will certainly see the hotel. This is adjacent to the main Shin-Osaka Hotel thus the Annex on its name. The check-in is done in the Main Hotel reception. The room key is needed for entering the Annex building. There are nearby restaurants and convenience stores but it is relatively a quiet neighborhood.

Room has:
-free full set of breakfast; choice of Western (toast, sausages, eggs, salad) or Japanese (natto)
-double bed
-TV with local channels
-a/c heater/cooler
-trouser press
-ladies' beauty kit - moisturizer, facial wash, lotion
-small tub/shower and toilet

There isn't much space for luggages but it is enough for just a room to sleep in and somewhere to refresh after a long day of travelling. It is similar to business hotels in terms of room and service but is a bit cheaper so I'd probably stay again here next time.

200 metres from the Shin-Osaka railway station in a nice suburban neighbourhood, welcoming multilingual staff, great sized and equipped rooms. It may be right next to the railway line but they have done a fantastic job in soundproofing the rooms I never heard a thing, in reality I couldn't have asked for anything more. Stayed for a week and felt completely at home. Note: free WiFi accessible at all the main gates in the Shin-Osaka Station (JR Free wifi)

We managed to locate the hotel without too much effort coming in from Kansai on the Haruka. Heading off to Hiroshima the next morning on the Shinkasen, it was important to have somewhere close to Shin-Osaka Station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although the room was small, it was clean and the location was perfect for what we needed.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the railway line, but there was very little noise.

The location is perfect for getting on and off the Shin-Osaka JR Station. It's an easy 3 or 4 minute walk. It can be a bit of a confusing station to find your way around, so best tip is head to the north exit, find a bank of windows near a lift, look out and you will see the Hotel signage. Go down to ground level and walk along the railway track, you will go past the Station Hotel and the Station Hotel Annex. It has two entries, so it is pretty easy to find. Foyer is a bit old fashioned, but clean and enough. Two computers with free internet access - ask the staff for the password. Staff are very friendly.

Rooms are VERY small, we got a double and the bed sits hard along one wall, with just enough room for a small tv cabinet set up. A small frosted window, with 'don't open' on it and the usual tiny, japanese kit bathroom. The room feels dated and being small doesn't help. It seems clean and orderly. The pillows are shockers and have a tempure section with another section full of small beads???? We can't work out what they are for, but you can ask for more Tempure pillows, but they were pretty poor too. :(

Mattress was firm and reasonable, doona was thick and wonderful. Little fridge and they give you two free bottles of water.

Breakfast is very basic and the Western style is not that appealing....maybe the Japanese style is better quality? I am sure the Japanese try hard to appeal to their western visitors with the breakfast, but I think they have got what is eaten a bit mixed up. Tiny frankfurt (hotdog) style sausages and a bland scrambled eggs are barely edible. Toast and jam is great! We would skip the breakfasts here in future.

Again the big plus for this hotel is the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor. If you face away from the train tracks you will likely have a room looking on...

We stayed here for 5 wonderful nights using Osaka as a base for visiting surrounding areas and were not disappointed. Hotel staff were exceptional, they spoke English well and always made you feel welcome. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Location is very handy to Shin-Osaka station, which is one station away from Osaka/Umeda. Breakfast was filling with a choice each day of Japanese or western style.

Next to the Shin-Osaka station. Convinient for a day visit to Osaka city. The room was ok, a bit small but not too much. It did not have good views. Personal attention was ok. Convinient if you are going to take the shinkasen the next morning.

An easy place ot get to, local to the train station and connections. A 7Eleven is close by. The lobby was one of my fave parts of the hotel. Free tea, massage chair, tv and lounge area. It was wonderful to come back to every night and have a massage! The staff were lovely even if they couldn't speak much english. The breakfasts were the best we had in a Japanese hotel. Choice of Western style (boiled egg, toast, salad, jam, fruit, yoghurt) or Japanese (miso soup, natto, rice, pickles and omelette). Both lovely but i liked the Western style better. The rooms were very clean and relatively spacious compared to other hotels. Lovely showers and you could open the windows. And when we arrived in our room there were two origami cranes there to welcome us, Just lovely! If you are staying in Osaka in the centre this is a great hotel for westerners, you'll feel at home here!
