“Good value hotel a stone's throw away from Dotonbori”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Hotel room was 'spacious' for Japanese standards. Bathroom had a little window that looked out into the hotel room which added to the sense of space. The room was very clean and everything worked well. Concierge service was variable. One staff member went out of his way to help us activate our Japanese sim, while another one flatly refused. In all, the hotel was good value for money by Japanese standards in a great location. There are a few groups of hosts and hostesses who hang around just outside the hotel, but they are not threatening in any way. On the contrary, they seemed quite disinterested in us (presumably we aren't their typical clientele since we're travelling as a couple).

Pretty average. Staff impersonal and would not allow check in before 3 pm exactly even though there were lots of people waiting for their rooms. TV programs in Japanese only. Rooms OK for the price. My room had a view of a dilapidated building next door.
No noise from the street though the Hotel is in the midst of the action with Shinsaibashi shopping arcade two minutes away. The area quite safe and the hookers don't bother foreigners.

Totally exceeded my expectations. Most of the hotels (3 stars) I've stayed in Japan were small in sizes and not exactly affordable. But Hotel Vista Grande Osaka really blew me away. I was travelling with a friend and had reserved a double room. The room size was very decent if not generous, the beds were comfortable, we had enough room to walk around with luggage strewn all over the place. I like that the hotel is walking distance to all the major shopping places in Osaka and just outside the hotel, there's a crazy 24 hours store (6 floors of stuff to buy! Think snacks! Make up items! Beauty products! Home appliances! Dildos!?!!) which makes it super convenient. You may not be comfortable seeing lots of "night clubs" places along the same street, but it's really safe, so just keep walking, no one will hassle you.

The reason why I'm not giving this place a 5 stars is because at check in, they mixed up my name and ended up giving me keys to someone else' room. I actually walked into the room, luggage and everything only to see that it's already occupied. I'd not be pleased if I was the guest whose room was wrongly accessed by a stranger.

Firstly don't be put off by any comments regarding the red light district, it's certainly not like any 'European' red light areas...not as obviously seedy...it is a very lively area with EVERYTHING on your doorstep, shops, bars, restaurants, street food...and you feel very safe walking around.

The hotel itself is of modern design with decent sized rooms, comfy beds and a bathroom with a window looking into the bedroom (don't worry there's a window blind). Other amenities include tv (Japanese channels only) and a fridge. There's also free in room wifi...

We didn't eat here as there's so much choice outside but the hotel food seems reasonably priced...

Would highly recommend this for a great value for money central location in the heart of osaka's bustling dotonburi area....

Highly recommend because of its highly convenience. Clearness and special room. Window screen for transparent wall of the toilet, so no worries. It is at Namba which is one of the two shopping areas in Osaka. Lots of fabulous restaurants, walking streets of shopping, stores and main department stores, subway stations and railways stations are all in a walk. You can find everything you need. Although someone mentioned it's in a red light area, it's just located in the entrance part and they won't bother a normal tourist, no concern at all. WiFi is only available in the lobby. 为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?为何不能只写英文?

i would recommend this hotel to anyone, the location is just right in the middle of namba - lots of shopping and restaurants around. Walking distance to subway. Everything is so convenient - from the airport, take the limousine bus to ocat bus terminal then take a cab to the hotel, it's only less than 10 mins and cost around 700yen. room is a regular size of a normal japanese hotel but it looks modern and really spotless. Would definitely stay here again.

Right in the middle of the action. Ideal hotel for foodies and shopaholics as the hotel is literally a few steps away from the shops and restaurants.

Rooms were very clean and surprisingly spacious! Staff were friendly and spoke good english.
