Checkers is a buffet style restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the Hilton Osaka Hotel. It is located right across the street from the south central gate of the Osaka (Umeda) train station. I stayed at the Hilton Osaka for three nights and had breakfast there every morning.
Checkers has an all you can eat Japanese buffet and an all you can eat Western buffet (I only ate the food from the Western buffet though). The western menu includes croissants and other breads, juices, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, a cold cereal counter and a fruit counter. The food was good but they do not have a self serve coffee pot (you have to ask the servers for coffee). I think they struggle to keep up with the coffee requests as it takes a while for a small pot to arrive (it is even harder to get a refill).
I noticed some people had free breakfast tickets but I did not get any so had to pay. They did not give menus so it was hard to figure out what the buffet price was. The first day it was 3200 yen, the next day they said it would be 4200 yen (they lowered it to about 2000 after I told them the price was lower the day before). Someone gave me a breakfast ticket the 3rd morning. I really think they should post the price near the front door as it felt like they just make up the price as they go.
Overall I enjoyed eating breakfast here and recommend it (especially if you are staying at the Hilton Osaka).
