“Not sure what else you could want”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

The hotel is virtually flawless.

The room was large and very comfortable. It was very dark at night and the bed was very comfortable, making it easy to sleep. The shower has awesome water pressure, which can be hard to find in many hotels, especially in Japan in my experience.

The service is absolutely outstanding! The concierge was extremely helpful. I emailed them a couple of weeks prior to my arrival to make dinner reservations. They were even able to find a restaurant that I went to almost a year ago but couldn't remember the name of. And, they made another restaurant recommendation upon arrival that I really enjoyed.

The breakfast buffet is quite good. Everything seems very fresh and there is a wide a selection of foods. One of the best breakfast buffets I've had.

The gym is nice. I only used it once as I had a one-day complementary coupon.

The location is good. It is a 5-10 minute from the Osaka station. And, it is close to the Umeda-Nishi subway station, which a number of subway lines serve. There is also a an express bus service to get to the Kansai International airport just a few minutes from the hotel. And, the lively restaurant district of Umedanichi is about a 5-10 walk away. There is some great people watching in the evening there.

We stayed here for one night last October.
On the positive side, we managed to get an early check in at 8am.... As Ritz Carlton Gold member, we also got upgraded to a corner room.... However, that is all we got! No welcome letter... No amenities in the room.... You have to pay a fee to access the hotel gym's sauna and steam room....
While very clean and functional, we found the room outdated and old fashioned.

The Ritz Carlton in Osaka is a great place, with very attentive staff, great rooms and good food. Of course one would expect that from this type of hotel. The location is fine, the Osaka station is a five to ten minutes walk away and so are most underground stations. The room rates are not low but then again not too bad compared to some other properties from the same chain. However there are a few details that should be improved. First the concierge desk. We found the staff there not too knowledgeable about attractions both in Osaka and outside of town like Kyoto. And not everybody on duty had the same English proficiency that you would expect for a function that has that much interaction with guests, which by the way may have given us the impression about their knowledge. Second the selection of TV channels for foreign guests is quite poor. Only a BBC and a CNN news channel in English?. In this day and age ?. Granted one does not expect a complete set but would it be too much to ask to have at least one English movie channel and sport channel ?. For this reason the hotel does not get my perfect score.

Room Tip: Try to get a room a high up as possible. The view at night is spectacular from all sides.

Stayed 3 nights in this wonderful hotel in April 2014 and my wife and I were incredibly impressed, and touched, by the level of service and quality at every turn.

The greatest strength of the hotel is its people! The staff are so conscientious and so genuine in their greetings and actions that you always feel spoiled and brilliantly looked after.

If you have access to the 34th floor club lounge you must take advantage of the beautiful views and wonderful drinks and light meals on offer all day. This access allows you to have a less crowded venue for breakfast than the ground floor dining room plus you can have a great sharpener around 6pm before heading downtown for dinner.

The rooms were wonderfully furnished (and had great views from the 32nd floor) and the linens and toiletries (Aspreys) were what you would expect from such a premium yet traditional hotel. Loved having a Nespresso machine in our room and the iPod connection cable was also very useful.

My one gripe (and they can't really doing anything about it!) is that the building itself feels a little staid and old fashioned. The marble floor, wooden paneling, carpets, paintings are all good quality and feel sympathetic to the environs yet they feel from another era. A little Downton Abbey-esque in some ways... But if that's what you like and you want to feel incredibly pampered then this is the place for you.

We'll be back to carry on our love affair with Japan.

Room Tip: The higher the better! Great panoramic views from room 3204.

The entrance to the Ritz Carlton was the wow factor. The hotel was classic old English style, lots of dark timber panelling.
The rooms on the club lounge level spacious and well appointed. A tv in the bathroom mirror, haven't seen that before.
Hotel is well located to shopping and department stores, which have to be seen to be believed, especially the food courts.

Room Tip: Spoil yourself in the club level, where the club lounge has wonderful facilities and excellent view...

Stayed 3 nights for a business trip. The hotel is of a good luxury standard decorated in an 'English' country house style. The rooms are of a good size, have good facilities and the staff are helpful, including apologizing for my room to take a while to clean and giving a free beer while I wait. The bar is particularly good, especially when the pianist is playing / singing. The Italian restaurant was mediocre at best for lunch (a la carte) and I would not recommend, although the breakfast buffet was of a very good standard. There are also some good restaurants in a mall in the basement area next door, especially the traditional japanese restaurant. The spa was also good and had a relaxing massage. The location is central, close to the station, easily reached from the airport on the number 5 limosine bus and close to a big new shopping center the other side of the main station. Overall a pleasant stay and I would return.

I stayed there just for one night. I stayed their suite room, I don't know what they call it, which has entrance hall, huge living room with fantastic view, dining room/ meeting space, tv room with couches, really sweet bed room, and fancy bath room!

I was supposed to use the room from like 9pm until 9am next morning, it was way too good for the short stay!
I recommend you to take your time to relax at the room, enjoying drinks by the windows at night.

Actually, I didn't book the suite first, but the hotel kindly upgraded my room somehow , for same price! It was the best thing ever happened during my trip to Osaka.

I liked their amenities, too. It has nice quality for women.

It maybe not super close to the station but still walking distance.
Also, around the hotel, there are convenience stores, and restraints. So it's pretty convenient!

I would love to stay again!
