I have always wondered what it is like to stay in motel 6.... well i think i got delivered that experience in Japan. The rooms were terribly small, which is perfectly fine since that is how it is in Japan... but, what i cannot stand is stained floor carpet and general other amenities like old towels, work out shower curtain, comforter etc.

First day they gave me smoking room as all non-smoking rooms were occupied. Breakfast wasn't good either.

Now on brighter side, bedding (sheets) was indeed very clean and crisp. The hotel is in same structure as the station and mall, so that might be a big plus for some.

Room tip: There are other good brand hotels nearby... Osaka seems to be expensive, but if you dont pay premium, you will probably get motel6 quality stay.

I stayed on the new 27th premium floor for 3 nights, and I totally love this hotel!

Pros:
- super clean and new, in fact this floor only opened in April 2012
- you have your own front desk on the same floor, staff speaks perfect English and very helpful
- the lounge with free snacks and drinks is prefect. it also comes with free computer with internet and color printer
- wifi throughout the hotel
- super quality amenities in your room
- just above the Osaka station, super convenient no crazy walking
- reasonably priced

Cons:
- the front desk on your floor closes at 8pm and to call the front desk of the entire hotel takes forever for someone to pick up
- rooms are pretty small, not a lot of room for luggage
- somehow the bed is a bit soft not very comfortable

I definitely would come back to this hotel 27th floor again!

Our room was bright, clean and pleasant, with a nice view. I wish we could have had a larger bed, as the twin/double size is cramped for a couple (and we're small people), although much larger than a Western twin if you want to sleep separately.

Service was good, but this was the only one of four hotels where we stayed in Japan that didn't offer breakfast with the room charge.

The location over Osaka Station is perfect. We also found that Osaka residents using the station were generous with directions, approaching us with help before we asked for it.

Bought a package from Tokyo to Osaka via Japanican.com. We must've been lucky, this was the best steal ever! We were expecting pigeon holes with no space to move, but we got what we never expected!

Althought the reception was small, the japanese were very efficient! They checked us in within minutes! The room was spacious and comfortable. With en suite bathroom, that had a bath tub and automated toilet. Everything was equipped, shower gel, shampoo, u name it!

The most important thing is, it was very convenient for transportation, just located on top of the JR Osaka station & a shopping centre. Finding food shouldnt be a problem as there are many convenient stores in the station itself. I would definitely recommend it!

Purpose of stay: Business

Perfectly located above the JR Osaka Station and therefore, great bus and train connections and fantastic for walking around the city for business or pleasure.

Hotel has recently opened the 'Granvia Floor' (Level 27) - nicely refurbished rooms and staying on this floor provides access to a guest lounge that provides complimentary tea/coffee/juice and biscuits. Floor 27 can only be access by guests staying on that floor.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided.

Staff were friendly and efficient.

Booking Tip: On the hotel website you will note 'inside rooms' are listed and generally way beneath the price of the other rooms. 'Inside Rooms' simply have no view of the city, they face a central atrium and other rooms. Savings to be made if you are not so concerned with a view.

Room Service was odd. Room service operates ONLY from 9pm - midnight. One assumes that this limited provision is to 'encourage' you to dine in one of the 9 in-house restaurants. When travelling for business this inconvenience needs to be considered.
